Clarisse is already not pleased at the prospect of playing this game with Maul, so his instruction for her to sit quietly and wait while he takes down the stupid hunter has her blood boiling. She actually stomps one foot on the ground in anger.

"No. No fucking way," she hisses, and gestures to her spear. "Look at me. You think I'm just going to sit around and let you have all the fun?"

Look at her, Maul!!! She's a big girl, she can fight the ugly mortal in the khaki uniform!

The fact Clarisse looks like a pouty child sitting there stomping her foot and protesting being left behind doesn't give Maul any confidence in letting her come with him to take down Van Pelt. While normally he'd agree that killing can be fun, in this particular instance he's not entirely convinced it will be. "I can't track down a crazed killer and watch out for a child all at the same time!" Maul says.

He just knows Clarisse is going to protest at being considered as a child by him. "And yes, you are a child despite what you might think otherwise." He glances at the jungle around them, keeping his Force senses open in case the hunter makes a sneak attack.

"I'm not a child," Clarisse snarls, just like Maul expected her to. "I'm not even a teenager." She can almost legally drink in the United States. It's a big deal.

She slides the spear from her back so she can hold it properly in front of her. "You literally know nothing about me or what I'm capable of," she continues, not even really trying to be quiet. "I'll find the stupid hunter and take him down myself."

Clarisse could have been only five years younger than Maul and he still would have considered her to be a child with the type of attitude that she has. But that was neither here nor there as he figures out what to do with her.

"So says the girl that barely avoided mortal injury from me," Maul points out. He remembers all of what he did while brainwashed far too well and injuring Clarisse had been one of those things. Having her go off by herself and get killed trying to prove herself is just the sort of thing he wants to avoid right now, so he pinches the bridge of his nose in an exasperated fashion. "Don't be foolish. If you want to take him down that badly, we shall do it together."

Clarisse scoffs, her eyes rolling practically out of her head. "Uh, that only happened because you attacked me out of nowhere for no fucking reason," she says, "not because I can't handle you. Idiot."

But whatever. She'll work with Maul until they get out of here, and then go back to hating him. She's good at doing that.

"Fine."
