[ Shortly after Willow arrives, Jessica comes down from her room to see what all the commotion is. She hasn't been living here long, and its been hard to adapt, especially after receiving the crushing revelation of tragedy from Ange. Still, when she sees that friendly, helpful face from the boardwalk, Jessica approaches with a bright grin. One moment at a time for her, and right now she's glad to see another familiar person. ]

Oh, it's you! I didn't know that you lived here too!

[Willow can't hide her surprise at seeing the girl from the boardwalk here, but she still greets her with a friendly smile, and a wave. It makes sense she supposes that their numbers may have increased since Trench.]

Oh, hey! It's, uh, good to see you again. I didn't know you lived here either. I was, um, kind of out of touch with everyone for a couple days.

[ Jessica rubs the back of her neck, laughing. God, she has no idea what's going on. But it ought to be easier to face if she can make a few friends, right? ]

Oh, yeah! Ange's my cousin, and Sayo's my best friend from home. Well, she was a family servant, but I never thought of her that way. Anyway, it's really good to see some familiar faces!

Oh, that's really cool! Yeah, I've known Ange for awhile now. She's a really good friend.

[Sayo is a different story - she doesn't remember Sayo at all, but she's sure if they're all from the same world, and all friends, she's probably made friends with her as well, especially since they all live under the same roof.]

I, uh, don't know Sayo so well, but I'm sure I'll get to know her too. It's good to see you again too - hopefully you're settling in okay?

Me and Ange, well, it's a bit weird. She was really little when I'm from, and she comes from my future. I'm sorta proud seeing her all grown up, you know?

[ So many years that she spent all alone. ]

Yeah, it's... been a bit tough, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Yeah... that would definitely make it weird. I'm sure she's glad to see you all the same, though.

[It isn't hard to understand why adjusting to life in Trench could be described as a bit tough, especially after coming face to face with the adult version of your previously very young cousin, and Willow finds herself nodding sympathetically.]

It doesn't seem so bad, I guess. Once you get used to it. And I don't think there's a person in this house who wouldn't help you if you needed it.

I know family is a lot more than blood, but... that's still what we are.

[ When she thinks of what Ange must have gone through, she becomes that much more determined to fill in the family shaped gap that she'd had in her life. And that was her family too, no matter how much she wants to believe that in her own world, they will be alive and well. ]

Thanks, Willow. The same goes for me. I wanna help out too if I can! [ But she has to admit that she's probably not ready for that quite yet. ]

No, it's totally understandable to want to connect with family, especially in a place like this where most of us aren't from the same place at all.

[It certainly sounds like Jessica is going to fit in well with the rest of them. Willow grins.]

Of course! I'm sure we'll all be able to help each other around here. Welcome home.

Do you have anybody like that here, Willow?

[ Not the most delicate question, but Jessica never was the best at speaking subtly. ]

Home... yeah, I like how that sounds!

[ It's a relief to have somewhere that she belongs among all this strangeness. ]

Umm... I've got family here, and people I care about, but no one I'm related to by blood. A lot of them are people I met here, to be honest.

[It's just as well. She can't imagine how her parents would cope with living in a place like Trench when they kept their heads firmly in the sand to the supernatural occurrences in Sunnydale. She suspects they would both just walk straight back into the ocean again and try to swim home.]

And hey, you've got no shortage of housemates to hang around with.

Yeah, it does seem like it'd work out that way, huh?

[ When she thinks about the people she loves in her home, brutally slaughtered in that incident gouges at her heart. She has to keep her mind on the here and now, as much as she can. ]

Mmhm! I hope that you can think about me that way too!

You kinda don't end up in a place like this and not end up making new connections with people. There wasn't anyone at all that I knew from home here either for a long time, so it got really easy to want to get to know others.

[She is very fond of the people she's found here, and it seems pretty clear already Jessica will fit right in.]
