Who: Yoshizawa Sumire & OPEN! One closed prompt.
What: Catch-all for March!
When: Anytime in March. :>
Where: Trench! Closed prompt specifically in the Catacombs.
Content Warnings: We see dead people. Will add content warnings as necessary!
ᴊᴜᴍᴀɴᴊɪ ᴄʜᴀʟʟᴇɴɢᴇ: ʀᴜsʜɪɴɢ ʀɪᴠᴇʀs; [ᴀ] ᴏᴘᴇɴ
[Trench had taught Sumire time and time again that she really didn't like the water, here.]
[She was sharp enough to have heard the water coming, but hadn't had nearly enough time to do much of anything about it. If you happened to be near her when it crashed around the corner, she may have grabbed hold of you. Athletic as she is, swimming isn't her strong suit, but she may stand a better chance than some of having the stamina to swim to a space where drowning is less immediate of a concern. Or maybe she's grabbed onto you, and now she's the one struggling? She's pretty small, after all, anyone much bigger she might have a hard time pulling to safety.]
[ʙ] ᴏᴘᴇɴ
[She's marooned herself on the somewhat flat expanse of a very large rock, and frequently moves toward the edge of it if she sees anything even remotely alive or person-shaped. Are you struggling to get out of the rapids? She's reaching out to you.] Here-- grab my hand!
ᴘᴇʀᴋɪɴɢ ᴜᴘ; ᴏᴘᴇɴ
[This game has done a lot of weird and kind of unpleasant things, so rolling her dice had Sumire flinching as she dropped them. She opens her eyes to the roll and tilts her head slowly, only to pull a face. She waves a hand in front of her nose a minute, stops, sticks her tongue out, and does it again. She does this a few times before she finally sneezes approximately like a kitten, and... promptly somewhat becomes one. The ears and tail are that of a Cougar's, and her pupils shrink into narrow slits, all at once her instincts becoming sharper. She settles into a crouch at first as fur slowly grows in on her extremities, thickest at the ends of her fingers (and toes, though she's still wearing her shoes for now), and her tail lashes against the earth.] ...this isn't the first time I've had cat ears here, but this definitely feels different.
ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴄᴏᴍʙs; ᴄʟᴏsᴇᴅ
[She didn't drink coffee like the other two members of the household, though she'd sometimes let Akira pour her a short cup if he was making something specific. Too much caffeine wasn't good for an athlete's body, she'd say, but it really never took much convincing because she liked the flavor, and she liked watching him make it, and it was a good communal activity for the three of them. Simple, comforting, didn't require discussion of anything, be it home or the laundry list of things that happened in Trench.]
[She tried not to think about those things too much, despite wondering when that was inevitably going to have to change.]
[Regardless, she could hear their voices as she moved into the kitchen to refill the water bottle she carried just about everywhere with her.] Morning, [She was about two steps from the sink, reaching out with the water bottle, and the ground gave way under her. She sank forward just a bit at first, enough to lean back on her steadier foot and look down, but the moment she saw the kitchen floor crumbling inward it pulled, and if she managed to grab Akechi or Akira's sleeve in reaching back toward them, well, rest in pieces, boys.]
ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴄᴏᴍʙs; ᴏᴘᴇɴ
[It wasn't difficult to get lost, down here. She'd come down with her housemates, but through some series of events she's gotten separated from them. Despite this, and despite the girl who looks uncannily like her, save for the birth mark, brown hair as opposed to crimson, and the heavily bleeding headwound, she seems relatively unbothered. In fact, she (and the corpse of her dead twin sister) will move toward anyone she sees within the Catacombs nearly immediately, sliding the rucksack off her shoulders to open it.] Oh! Hi, are you okay? I've got some extra water in here, if you need any.
ᴡɪʟᴅᴄᴀʀᴅ; ᴏᴘᴇɴ
[This post is kinda limited! If you have ideas or want Sumire anywhere, feel free to holler, you can bug me on discord at ghosthotel#0287, or PM this journal! I have company this week and work really bizarre hours so I might be slow, but I promise I'll get to you! That said-- I'm open to just about anything, so also don't be afraid to just throw me something random! Here is Sumire's permissions post, for anyone worried about what is and isn't okay to tag with! :> I'm also open to anything outside the scope of the event if that works better for you!]

[She stares up at her own ghost, and Aelwyn looks back, grief in her eyes. Who's mourning who? Are they both mourning? Did they both lose their chance?]
This is Aelwyn. My older sister. She committed a war crime.
tmw you only just get a notif for a tag from three days ago
[She lifts her head and straightens her posture, nodding in a loose bow toward Aelwyn. War crime, huh? Sounds pretty intense..., Still, Sumire has a soft smile to her features.] My sister's name is Kasumi. [She looks back to Adaine.] ...oh! And I'm Sumire. What's your name?
happens to the best of us....
She's... struggling to imagine what it would be like to do everything with her own sister. They were never close. They tried to kill one another. They were divided and conquered.
She wonders if they'd have tried to kill eachother sooner if they were forced into closer proximity.]
Do you want to talk about it? Your sister and the um, mistake, I mean.
smh at gmail and its entire cockblocking existence
This might sound strange, but I think I've figured it out, mostly. She was struck by a car and killed instantly, and I spent close to a year afterward refusing to grieve in favor of pretending to be her. [She keeps her gaze on her zombielike sister a while longer before turning back to Adaine.] It was my fault, the accident.
no subject
All those years in middle school she spent silently praying that they'd swap places, swap lives, swap everything. So yeah, maybe if Aelwyn leaving her life hadn't coincided with that pedestal being smashed to pieces, maybe she'd have still wanted to fill her place.]
What makes you say it was your fault?
no subject
[She drums her fingers against her kneecaps for a moment.] ...I was upset, and walked into the street without paying attention to the light. She pushed me out of the way, and was struck by a vehicle. [She laughs, oddly-- and the sound isn't as humorless as you might expect, given her words.] Suffice to say, that did not help the upset.
no subject
I can't imagine it would, though.
no subject
...I can't exactly say "it's okay", but it's... in the past. I've learned a lot in the aftermath, about myself and a lot of other things.
no subject
But she knows that's not how these things work. She sort of hunches in on herself the slightest bit more, glancing up at Aelwyn's chilly expression.]
I think I understand. Though... I think I'm still learning, personally. At least I was before I arrived.
What did you learn?
no subject
It's important to always learn from your past, whether it's from mistakes you made or mistakes you're making.
[She looks at Kasumi for a long moment.] No matter how much you want to be what you think everyone wants, it's so, so much more important to be yourself.
no subject
[Then she looks back down at her feet. Slightly guilty, but mostly thoughtful.]
...My sister isn't dead. But... I think I might be? So, I try not to think about what state that left her in. We hated eachother our whole lives, and only finally found peace just before I arrived here.
no subject
Wait, wait-- she isn't dead, but you think she might be? What makes you say that?
no subject
Aelwyn... she'll be okay. Even without me, my friends will look after her. [She shrugs, only a little melancholy.]
no subject
I'm glad she'll have someone to look after her, but I hope you'll be able to resume doing so, as well. Especially given you said you were only recently becoming close.
