[ when he was finally free from the challenges of the Jungle and Catacombs, Kaneki returned to the empty house that was now his "home"; empty, broken, with little inside because he had no time to fix it up and patch what was rotting since he had arrived just few days ago. And yet, he already went through so much that it feels like an eternity since he crawled out of the ocean as a small helpless red squid. After opening to the door to his house, kaneki finds two of the prizes; naturally he was wary of them at first, but upon further research and sort of poking them here and there, he came to the conclusion they weren't tricks and would not suddenly blow up in his face when he least expected.

But eventually he takes them and just wanders back to the beach where he first showed up, to stare at the ocean that he feels that it haunts him. It's not familiar, yet it is; he came from it as a small tiny squid and he remembers that. In the end, kaneki isn't sure if coming out of there was the right choice, if regaining his senses was something he should have done. He is still so lonely and still so desperate, and still so unsure that his existence is worth it.

Kaneki sits down, watching the angry waves, before he drops the Sun Chalice and the (really lame) T-shirt next to him that says "I'M BARELY SURVIVING TRENCH AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS T-SHIRT" (thanks, Moss King). As tacky as it was, the shirt spoke the truth: kaneki is barely surviving, and he doesn't even know if he should be there. Everything feels so wrong but he has no idea how to fix it, either.

With a sigh, Kaneki calls for his Omen and smokes pours from his shoulder to form a Chinese Red-head Centipede that quickly wraps around Kaneki's fingers. He looks at it for a second, before smiling a little ]

What am I doing? [ the Omen won't answer.

But perhaps someone passing by might hear Kaneki ]

WILDCARD
[ I can and will write different prompts for whoever is interested in meeting Kaneki on a different setting! You can hit me up on my CR top-level, or my plurk [plurk.com profile] vilani, and I will write something to fit both our characters (= If you are meeting Kaneki for the first time, here are the first impressions for the character, feel free to play with them as well! ]
violetlies: Yeah. We had phone sex then cried together, it was beautiful and heartbreaking (The good inside me)

[Kokichi ends up laughing a little as well.] Nee-hee-hee-hee! Wow, you were, like, dead on. Biggest difference is he was a detective, so Saihara-chan always had 'mystery brain'. [Air quotes.] Otherwise, I think the both of you would've gotten along preeeeeetty well.

[Equals. That's a good feeling. Being on even ground people here has been...easier. Easier not to put up the supreme leader front to the extent he had previously. He, however, pauses when Kaneki looks down.]

Kaneki-chan. I've seen a lot of things since I got here. The whole...situation you have, from what I know of it - which isn't much - ranks as a 'so-so'. It's not normal, but...well. It's not my place to say 'you shouldn't be ashamed'. I don't know anything and if you don't want to tell me anything, that's your decision. I don't blame you, since I don't trust easily either. But I do think that you're you, and if that's part of you...

I don't dislike it at all.

Well, it was to help you, wasn't it? It sounds like it, at least. Like some kind of...supernatural prosthesis. [Kokichi questions, tilting his head lightly.]

I'm assuming there's some kind of great downside, or you wouldn't be as apprehensive as you are with the implication you want it gone. But somewhere you see it as so much a part of you that it carried over into what could be called, in some ways, a reincarnation....

[Which, in all honesty, doesn't surprise him as much as it perhaps should, given Shuichi would probably carry over his terrible self esteem and anything about himself he saw as flaws, too.]
violetlies: (I say I'm stupid foolish dim-witted)

may be able to wrap with ur next post~

[He smiles weakly - almost helplessly. It'd be amazing if Kokichi could find some magical way to fix...whatever Kaneki had going on. Or make him care about himself more. Or...anything. This wasn't as simple as Shuichi's lack of resolve with being a supposed inexperienced detective amongst Ultimates, this was something entirely foreign. Supernatural.

And his only experiences with the supernatural have been equally a sham.]

...You don't have to thank me for anything. And I'm not, really.
But if I can ever help you someday...

I'll try.

[That's a surprisingly innocent promise from someone so normally cynical. He raises his hand up, wiggling his pinkie.]

Back in my organization, these kinds of promises were sacred.

Sooooooo. I'm re~eeeallly putting my pride on the line here. [He winks.] But.

[He takes Kaneki's hand, and hooks their pinkies together.]

I promise, if I can ever find some way to help you, Kaneki-chan....I will.

Whatever I can do. And that's an honest promise made from my own wants, so don't try to change my mind. Neeheehee.
