... why did he have to talk like that? Old habits die hard.
"Ah, you are a robot then? Yes, that might explain the lesser impact. I would, however, run a diagnostic soon. You may find that this world's stranger parameters impact code as poorly as they do the think pan." He grunted, right before blinking and jumping back. "Ah... please do not touch that! they are sensitive. It is an old injury. Very old." So old he barely remembered how it happened. He'd been a wriggler at the time.

"So you've adapted out of necessity," K surmised. "It's smart."
Equius's reaction, though, made him jerk his hand back in surprise. Not that he would've actually touched without asking first, but it was good to know all the same. Horns were sensitive. A little surprising Kyle had never mentioned anything of the sort to him before, considering all the things they had discussed..... oh. Oh no. Was it a weird troll sex thing?
"Sorry," he quickly offered. Awkward. Moving on. "And I am. I'll keep that in mind." A beat. "You're... good with robotics, aren't you?"

He blinked and then nodded, smiling and more clearly getting at ease as he returned to subjects he preferred. "I consider myself something of an expert by the standards of my species, but it is perhaps better to say I am a savant. Real application has yet to be mastered. However, I am definitely trained in multiple world's concepts of the study."

"I noticed Penny Polendina's network post seeking assistance," he explained. "The person who used to help me in matters of maintenance and repair is gone. So I've been trying to keep tabs on those who might be able to assist, if it becomes necessary..."
As it turned out, maybe their meeting was fortuitous for more reasons than one.

"Parts distribution is more difficult to maintain in this place than organ and blood blanks so that is generally wise. My expertise is not necessarily on the specific methods here, but these can be updated and I do not need expertise to create equipment and parts."

"Yes. Your ability to draw things into existence is incredibly useful," he said thoughtfully. It was still easily one of the most universally useful abilities he had encountered, from Deerington to Trench. Just a shame it couldn't be taught.
"And how advanced would you say your skill with programming is?"
no subject
"My Programming skills will depend on familiarity with the programming language. My skill was sufficient to be able to partially reprogram an AI, though I will not do so here." A firm shake of his head. "I... have come to accept that if something is truly an Artificial Intelligence, it is not within my parameters to do such a thing save with their expressed permission to repair code."
He ... uh, he'd learned from that whole reprogramming Aradia's bot body incident.
