"Well, I won't have to listen to your nonsense when you've a mouth full of macaron, will I?"
Break says this with his own mouth full of macaron. He possesses exquisite table manners and uses them only when he damn well pleases.
"Although, if Miss Ange is fixing to go gray about her cute head, perhaps she is no longer such a young person after all --"
"Fufufu. You know, Ange dear, it may be high time we Rainsworths found a proper fan for you to carry," Sheryl cuts in smoothly, before Ange can get it into her head to fling the whole cake tray at him. The former duchess is not so uncouth as to make a fist, but she does move her arm in a circle a little, as though winding up for a good throw. "I'm still young myself! I can certainly teach you to throw a fan with enough force to embed it into a wall. A young woman should be able to defend herself gracefully from the vexations of men, isn't that so?"
Break goes abruptly silent by way of stuffing a whole piece of cake in his mouth and looks around innocently. Really, the arrival of the Rainsworths and their deadly fans only made it all too clear why he thinks riling Ange up enough that she hurls the nearest baking tool at him is a fun and amusing game. Now that he's again being whacked for his verbal indiscretions on all sides, all is right with the world, and it pleases him very much that Sheryl would make such an offer to Ange. It just means she's seen the Rainsworth in her, and that's a good thing.
