closedish to cool guys having chill day
Who: a bunch of funky friends invited by Viktor and Palamedes*
What: Having a Party in a field with Fireworks
When: the second week-ish in May
Where: (the field outside of) Pal and Viktor's bunker in Gaze
Content Warnings: alcohol and teens drinking it, irresponsible use of explosives, see threads for anything else that comes up
*If you have friendly CR with Palamedes please feel free to handwave that he mentioned this happening, also if your character has CR with a Pal Friend (a pal^2) who would invite them along, he's broadly allowing this. It's not a formal affair in the slightest lmaooo

afternoon/evening.
Earlier in the morning on the day of The Fireworks Field Party (tm), Palamedes makes sure to send a quick location ping to anyone who's never been to the Sixth bunker (also tm) before, because it is, indeed, just in a field somewhere in Gaze. The treeline is comfortably distant from the door to said bunker, which is the only real indication anything is out here besides a few "big rocks" that he names, in his message, as landmarks.
As an afterthought, he has set up a little trail of mason jars containing glowing mushrooms to lead the way to The Field, helpfully. The Field is what it sounds like: a dang field, just slightly ominous in the Gaze fashion, although besides the usual somebody's-watching feeling, it's grassy and spacious for kitschy lawn games. Among the things Palamedes has provided (upon recommendation of a shopkeeper, so like, do not perceive his choices, they were made for him) include:
1. Just a load of blankets, big cozy ones dutifully spread out for chilling on, on the ground.
2. Throwing game Crossbones, definitely chosen because of the bones (they are wooden sticks), and just kind of left sitting there waiting because your host does not know how to play physical games.
3. beanbag horseshoes because it rocks
4. Just, like, a specific blanket that has pencils and blank paper sitting on it... This is a free station, no one will question what art happens here.
Harrow has also provided bone chairs for alternate seating, which are precisely what they sound like.
Eventually, the field will also feature a snack table, which is a community effort, and a booze table, which is slightly supervised in the way that your esteemed host(s) will not permit booze and cherry bombs at the same time.
And, because it's an open field in Trench, there is also a table where emergency incense is waiting. Wandering too far from the space immediately around the bunker (which, it's a big space, you'd have to go far) will eventually lead you to blood wards on the ground, on the trunks of a few trees, etc. Don't touch these. Don't be gross.
the fucken fireworks.
It's fireworks. Once it's dark, there are even more glowing mushroom jars and homemade alchemy glowsticks from Waver to be passed around, somehow, and at least some of the little beanbags glow in the dark, ooh!! Viktor has provided cherry bombs to be used with at least a little caution, for god's sake. There are also some slightly larger fireworks in much shorter supply, from a shop, that will be closely guarded until someone with pyrotechnics talent convinces Palamedes they deserve one. Godspeed.
Broadly: this is a fireworks party (tm) for individual wee ones you can throw around on your own, with only a brief smattering of the big ones that light up the whole sky above the field. It's a chill time for cool buds, fire safety is encouraged, so is vibing on the blankets and enjoying a nice evening.
At various times, local dope musician Anna Amarande will be providing some light musical entertainment, for vibes.
the bunker i guess.
The party is not in here, but for reference:
-it's locked via numpad and neither of these stickbug nerds are giving out the code but they'll open the door if asked... you don't have to leave the place to go to the bathroom lmf
-it's a bunker. it's one room and a bathroom in the back. it's full of disorganized nerd stuff and an oversized moon orb and pal's mean omen, rocky the cool rat (harpy eagle), who will aggressively flap at anyone with sticky fingers until they leave
-the code is 69420 so if you're super funny like gideon you COULD guess it

"Surely nothing wilder than that can happen." How long have you known Allen now, Viktor? Tsk. Hup!
He throws both sparklers up into the air. Higher than you would think is possibly safe, sparks flung in dancing patterns in the air, but he catches them neatly as they come back down while hardly sparing them a glance. It's a fluid motion though, as he tosses one back up immediately, followed by the other a moment later. Catching and then throwing--
He's juggling fireworks? Yes he is, and with the most captivated, comfortable sort of smile on his face. ]
no subject
he blinks, a touch concerned when the sparklers just get thrown into the air but- oh. he is actually juggling them. this
priestexorcist was juggling sparklers because he wasn't kidding about that circus time at all, and wellviktor can't help a short laugh, a bark of a thing he smothers as he sits back. rio is fascinated by the way, watching the juggling lights with huge eyes.]
Absolute show off. [he informs allen fondly.] Effective one too, that is incredibly impressive.
no subject
It's called showmanship. ✰ [ He's a professional, don't you know.
One, two, one two. It's an easy rhythm he falls into; juggling two things is child's play for him. Even if they're burning and have poor balance. He watches them rise and fall as well, definitely doing a little extra spin that creates a dazzling aerial pattern of sparks just for Rio's sake when he notices her attention. Timcanpy is positively rosy with enjoyment as well, sitting atop the larger omen's head. ]
I've been doing things like this since I was very little.
no subject
Did you enjoy it? [circusing. clowning? he isn't sure, again very little idea of what makes a circus. animals? juggling apparently, with various probably dangerous things.]
no subject
One, two, one, two... ]
I like being able to make people smile.
[ "Everyone would smile for me when they see me flowers. That's why I love it." ]
People can forget their sadness for a while when they can see or do something fun that makes them smile.
no subject
in the trench those moments had even more of a practical use, given corruption and its mental erosion. still, he realizes the lesson should probably be enjoying the moment rather than assessing how that enjoyment could be beneficial in the long term.
he's learning, sort of.] I suppose that is the point of tonight. Palamedes worries over his own group and wanted to offer a reprieve.
no subject
He continues to juggle for a few more beats, before with a quick flick of his wrists he catches both sparklers neatly. He hands Viktor's back to him, smiling then. ]
It's good you both have each other then, isn't it? [ He says it so very simply, like absolute truth, while holding the older man's gaze. Sitting tall and straight in his wheelchair, and with the most quietly certain sort of gentle smile. ]
Viktor, the person I've met here who's helped me the most... it's both you and Shouto. [ Again, in very different ways. But you both make him smile and like the weight in his chest isn't so great. ]
There are many ways to help make people's lives easier so they can feel like they can smile again. One isn't any better than the other.
no subject
[and has the same from pal, which the point, of course.
he's not all that surprised allen offers that comment, not when he's gotten used to allen's particular brand of being uplifting without batting an eye. is that not how they met? when allen was forced to listen to his troubles and helped offer a solution that has led them this far.
he shakes his head- now his fondness is for allen when he glances to him, lips faintly quirked.] You are right, of course. You tend to be in these matters. [a pause and he offers,] It is very good to have you back, Allen.
[he's not as good at this sort of thing, this open sincerity, but hey. that is something he can say easily enough.]
no subject
He startles lightly at that, surprise written for a moment on his face even if of course that shouldn't be surprising at all. No, it's not that he wouldn't expect that sentiment, but so soon after having come back from, well... that... it reminds him of the thing he's tried to push back in his mind and not dwell on so much. 'Death.' Just a little. But phrasing it that way, Viktor...
"Welcome back, Allen." That's what it reminds him of, and that hits hard.
His chin dips, gaze dropping as he struggles to find the words. ]
It... it's good to be back. [ It's a little thick and wispy, but he manages to get it out. Moved, though he tries to hide his face a little to keep Viktor from realizing how hard that hit and just smiles down at the ground. A little shy, almost.
"I'm home." ]
no subject
but no, allen seems to be smiling at the ground, and viktor lets out a breath before glancing away to give him privacy with whatever this is. maybe being cared about? sometimes he finds that overwhelming himself.]
How is the dragon doing? [yeah, dry. when all else fails tease allen about the Dragon Incident.]
no subject
Ah, well... I haven't been able to get out to the cave he's set up in since I got... back. [ It's in The Rocks and he can't for obvious reasons. Not until/unless he asks Shouto for help getting up there (and then down), and... the other boy certainly would if he did, but he's been pushing himself so much already lately. It can wait. ]
He's okay though, he found me on the shoreline the other day. I think he was worried too. [ There's a flicker of a smile, a nice one, though it doesn't quite match up with his eyes. ]
Honestly though, I'm still trying to figure out what to call him. Miss Alayne said they only called him "the Grey Ghost" because he was so elusive. It wasn't a proper name. [ He does like the idea of just "Ghost", but... ]
no subject
Eh... I am not very good with naming. Palamedes teases me for it often enough. [look, why can't he just slap 'hex' on everything he makes? hexgem, hexclaw, hexcore. it Works.] Maybe you could come up with a few ideas and see which he responds most to? He sounds quite clever.
