Well, no... not like that, exactly. I picked it up, and it kinda... [And he made a gesture that more looked like the watermelon just flew out of his hands... like he'd thrown it, but he hadn't. At least, he hadn't been trying to.]

[He watches Keith's miming of what happened thoughtfully, like he's trying to solve a great mystery.]

…So you hulked out.

Uh... [Give him a tic...] Well, no? I mean, I didn't exactly turn green and get huge.

[ ..... ]

…I didn't mean literally, dude.

[Yet another turn of phrase that goes way over Keith's head. He places his hands on his hips and heaves a breath, letting it go.]

Whatever, all I mean is it sounds like you got some crazy super strength all of a sudden.

Oh. Yeah. Yeah, I did.

[He frowned.]

It was weird.

[He looked down at his hands again.] It's been happening all month. [He sounded worried as he said that, because the whole 'month' thing made this seem like it was another Trench problem he might have to worry about. He didn't need that again.]

[Lance frowns a bit, trying to mask his concern, but not doing it that well. These things are rarely positive, eventually they turn into something bad most of the time.]

Noticed any other weird stuff?

I dunno.

I've had a lot more energy lately. Like, I feel like I could just go running and not stop for days. [He crossed his arms in that slightly hunched protective posture he gets from time to time when he feels off. And, really, the energy thing seemed kind of insignificant, but, if there was anything he's been learning about this place lately, it's that nothing is really all that insignificant.] And I uh... [Ugh. He did not want to say this after they had Hunk go back into the sea, but...] I might have developed a patch or two of like... I don't know. It looks like squid skin...

[Please don't freak out, Lance.]

[Lance tilts his head in a way that says 'well, that's not the worst thing', except he knows from experience it can be. His powers now make him feel like that pretty constantly. Sleep is not something he does that often, though he knows he should try because he feels it mentally.

And then Keith's apprehension reaches his senses and he frowns, wondering what is so… oh.]

Oh, ew. Ewewewew! That's nasty, man!

[Sorry, he's freaking out a tiny bit. Not as much as he might have were Keith to tell him that over four years ago before his tolerance for gore was sky high.]

[Well, that wasn't the freak out Keith had been expecting. He'd honestly been expecting Lance to suddenly panic that he was going back into the sea or something, not get grossed out.]

Uh, yeah... it's really gross...

[Yeah... focusing on the gross factor was definitely safer than thinking about the idea that he might be turning back into a squid again.]

[The idea that he could be in the process of going back to the ocean didn't at all occur to Lance. Turning into a squid both fully and partially is something he's seen happen outside of that context.]

…Maybe it was something you ate?

[Though he's not freaking out about Keith going to the sea, he's still really concerned and trying to mask it with an inane question. Of course it wasn't something he ate, but Lance is at a bit of a loss.]

...

[Keith stared at Lance.]

Well, it's not like I'm going to eat calamari ever again.

[He makes a face. Yeah, that's a fucked up issue he's definitely had to think about already.]

…Yeah, no kidding. [He heaves a breath, pivoting. He looks tense and concerned and trying not to let it show.] So, how long has this been going on?

Uh... I think... at least a week by now... [Keith hadn't made the water connection, yet.] It wasn't the start of the month, though, so I don't think it's something like that. Maybe.

[Lance nods with a hand on his chin as he tries to piece together the cause.]

So what were you doing before it started happening? Like retrace your steps.

The biggest thing? [Keith considered that.] That glowing water down at the beach. Did you know we can breathe in it? Like as if it's air? And there are ships down there. So many sunken ships. And there's stuff in them we can salvage and bring back up. Vira-Lorr and I found some stones with weird markings on them. Like historical carvings or something.

[Lance blinks a couple times when Keith goes into a bit of a ramble about the shipwrecks. Then he swallows and has to turn away a bit because it's got his heart doing painful flips and squeezes.]

Uh, yeah man. I went down there, it was pretty cool. Did you touch anything that looked totally cursed or something?

I dunno... I mean, we found those rock things. But I don't think they were cursed...

[He frowned in thought.]

I haven't asked Vira-Lorr if she's been affected by anything. Then again, I hadn't really made any connections before...

[Lance thinks back to his own experience in the waters, trying to remember if there was anything that stuck out.]

Yeah, I was just down there like a couple days ago and I feel fine, touched a whole lot of stuff… [It was very recent, though.] Wait, how soon after did all this start?

Mm... I don't know... maybe like, a week?

[Keith shrugged. He hadn't exactly been counting days.]

[Lance cringed. Ugh, so there was still time for him to start showing some symptoms if he ran into the same thing down there that affected Keith. He heaved a breath.]

Well, guess I really gotta help you figure it out now if I wanna protect my perfect complexion. Maybe we should ask around.

[Keith narrowed his eyes a little.]

Wow... not to help me, but to protect your own skin. Thanks. I appreciate the help.

[Sarcasm much?]

[Lance shoots Keith a sly, cat-like grin and nudges his arm with his elbow.]

You're welcome. Now let's get asking around.

[Keith snorted and rolled his eyes.]

Yeah...

[Time to do some investigating.]
