I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways (WIDE OPEN)
Who: Vira-Lorr (
onerthes), Minako Aino (
loveandduty & YOU!
What: Minako and Vira-Lorr's Wedding
When: September 9th
Where: Vira-Lorr's House and backyard.
Content Warnings: Blood (During the Bonding Ritual), but otherwise nope!
Vira-Lorr and Minako Aino are getting married! Besides their public Network Post announcing it, invitations are put out as an open invite to anyone who wishes to come. Gifts aren't needed, but they're certainly welcome.
There is included only one request. The invitation is open, meaning that anyone could stop in. Because there are so many good reasons that some might have to dislike or wish harm on each other, Vira-Lorr includes with it a request that people place their pasts aside while they celebrate their wedding.
1) Getting Ready/Cleaning Up

Thanks to the difficulties that all Palebloods faced during this month, Vira-Lorr had put out a bit of a call for help, and many of their friends offered to be there to help with the setup. There were some refreshments set out for them in the days running up to the event. Tables had to be set up, lighting needed to be strung. Flowers had to be delivered from Makoto's florists and arranged as well. So much to do, so little time. A lunar orb had to be set up to power everything. Decorations were going to need to be festooned.
Vira-Lorr and Minako were around throughout. Once her eyesight was back, Minako would be able to fully help with the arrangements. They were certainly available to mingle among the guests and happiness was to be shared all around. The whole of the party was to be held mostly in the back yard of Vira-lorr's home, the woods serving as a backdrop on all sides. Sticks of incense were burning on the regular to ensure there was no trouble with local monsters. Seating was comfortable, with a wide set of table for most of the guests at the reception, along with seats facing the archway where the ritual would be performed.
Specifically, one of the arrangements that Vira-Lorr made sure happened were small tables, set back from the others. They were surrounded by screens of ivy and bamboo, allowing for privacy while dining and viewing the wedding itself. Knowing that a few guests might not want to mingle too widely, it felt a nice option to have.
2) The Refreshments

Food was set out and drinks were provided for all. Where possible, Vira-Lorr tried to use her friends' bakeries. It was sad to think that Lysithea wouldn't be here to cater for this, as she'd once hoped. Still, she liked to think she was there in spirit. Breads and fish were the dominant fare and there was but one rule with the food that was followed throughout. There were absolutely, positively, without question, NO MUSHROOMS to be found. Considering how many were around Vira-Lorr's house, it might have been surprising, but one of the two of them really didn't like Shitakes, so best to include only the food that they most loved, right? Most of the dishes were pastries of one sort or another, along with a fish entree for everyone to enjoy. And of course...

Drinks were available, though the sampling of wines were a little thin. There were only so many on offer in town, after all. Most of them were fruit wines of one variety or another. One of the local Trenchies, hired for the day, was serving behind the counter with the open bar. Non-alcoholic drinks were also provided, for those who preferred them.
3) The Ceremony (Warning for Blood Rite)

When it was time for the vows to be said, Vira-Lorr was positively beaming. Within the archway, at some point during the festivities, there was a strange but familiar Statue that appeared. Set up at the altar and the archway was a bowl with what looked like ... well, it was blood. There was no way around that. This part of the ceremony was the one devoted to the way things were done here in Trench. The ladies exchanged their vows to each other first, where all could see them and hear them, but afterwards was included a bonding ceremony.
For those who still remembered the bonding ceremonies that had been taught back in February, they would recognize it when the two pressed their hands to each other's shoulders. Vira-Lorr was just glad that paleblood neutralized the acids in her own. No wincing. No pain. It had worked safely. The shoulders, a physical bond, weren't what the Trenchies in attendance expected clearly, but Vira-Lorr smiled and looked at everyone.
"We value each other's privacy, and I trust Minako with my whole heart. We decided when we wanted to get married that we... we wanted a bond that would let us still feel our minds separate, but always be joined together. To us, this is that kind of bond." She'd let Minako add anything she needed. But it was clear that she was positively beaming.
4) Dancing and Mingling!

Once the food's been had and the vows have been said, it's time to celebrate! There's the cutting of the cake, and dances to be had. There was even a very real possibility that Minako had every intention to sing for their guests. Vira-Lorr wasn't about to stop her from doing that if she wished. When they weren't right out in the front, there was music being provided for people to dance to, as they pleased and folks were welcome to mingle long into the night. It was a rare moment where nothing seemed to be going wrong.
True, Never Mind had whatever it had in store for them, and just as true there'd just now been rumored occasional disappearances in town. But this was hopefully a moment for people to gather and to try and just relax, to have fun and remember that this was a place that they were now living, not simply surviving.

Reaper | Overwatch | Fashionably Late
Reaper had shown up fashionably late when it came to the guests, though he wouldn't miss the ceremony even if he had to murder a bunch of people to get there for the event. He took one of the chairs to the tables that were put well away from the rest of the mingling party goers.
Of course, he couldn't really be missed, given he was wearing so many ruffles thanks to his choice of Red Death outfit that he had chosen for this event. He figured it was the best kind of wedding attire that he could pull out, and no, he had given up years ago wearing a tuxedo so this was the next best thing. His coat seemed to billow and shift even when he was sitting or standing still.
He was available to pitch in with last minute preparations too.
Ceremony
Again, he stood off slightly to the side where he had a good enough view of the ceremony as it took place, but he found himself uncomfortably reminded of his spur of the moment idiotic decision to be convinced to elope with Maul. He was also, unfortunately, reminded of his official wedding many decades ago. She had looked as happy as Vira and Minako did as they read their vows, positively glowing.
For his part, he was pleased to see Vira-Lorr so happy. After all the failed relationships that she had attempted, this one seemed to stick. Minako was bubbly and accented Vira's own personality. They seemed good for each other, and he even mustered himself to clap for them once the blood ceremony was done and they were bonded to each other in the ways of Trench.
Mingling & Dancing
Reaper wandered around the edges of the mingling people, always with a drink in hand but seeming to never take a sip of it. Still, he had always found wandering with a drink made him slightly more approachable, and this was a time to celebrate. It wasn't often that anyone had a reason to throw down a celebration like this, and it had also been a very long time since he had attended a wedding
where he wasn't there to assassinate someone. As for dancing, just because he wasn't big on dancing didn't mean he couldn't. He made certain to approach Vira at one point and sweep into a deep and very dramatic bow, his red coat billowing out. "If this old friend could steal you for a dance, I would be honoured." Then he held out his hand to her, knowing that she wouldn't refuse him.
If he could get away with it, he'd dance with Minako. Yes, yes, he'd keep the threats of breaking his friend's heart to a minimum. Minako was lovely, but he hadn't gotten to know her too much, more inclined to 'pick on' Makoto of the bunch.
Otherwise, he actually wouldn't refuse a dance if asked.
Dancing
As the dance started, she was still positively beaming. "You might be proud of the two of us. We didn't choose one of those bonds with our minds involved. It seemed wisest to choose something that gave each other privacy."
no subject
He pulled her along into the dance, taking the lead and sweeping her around the dance floor. He turned them so that he could make their outfits flare out to draw attention to themselves as they moved around. "I wish I could say I was as wise as you, but you've chosen well. It's pleasant to see you so happy."
no subject
"I'm very fortunate. She's a very patient and understanding woman, and she's helped me know much more about myself than I thought I could."
no subject
He made a noise in his throat, tipping his chin so his feather bobbed. "Good. It has always felt like you were wandering into trouble in hopes of filling some void that you were carrying around. You don't do that as much. It's clear your happy." He twirled them, all so he could sweep her and spin where her feet weren't touching the floor. "You know you can call on me to protect you both should the need ever arise."
no subject
"I found what filled that void for one," she admitted, grinning over at him. "But I also realized that I had to stop searching so hard. We found each other at the most unexpected of times. And of course, I know. I will always remember that you would protect us both with your life, and I would do the same."
no subject
"So it would seem. And you still have your head attached," he added as a joking reference to that time he had had to sew her head back on. "I suppose that's what friendship is, yes. We've called on each other in times of need more than I ever expected to."
no subject
"We have. Perhaps one of the realities that has been surprising is how much we both have needed it, but you've been there for me, and I for you. A good tradition to keep going."
no subject
He nodded his head, understanding what she meant. He had convinced himself a long time ago he didn't need a relationship until he and Maul had made a go of it. He figured if anyone deserved happiness in finding another, it was Vira. She had tried so hard for so long. "And it will be a tradition that stands. Even if you're all taken, I'm still going to bother you at various times and convince you to bad life decisions."
no subject
Perhaps what both of them had needed at some point was to simply embrace that they didn't 'need' to be in a relationship to find happy. Sometimes that freedom could help. "Heh. I always have room for at least a few of those. I don't think I could conceive of my life without some bad decisions. It would get positively boring."
no subject
He began to wind down the dance from being so energetic as the music also began to wind down to something slower. "And you are the Queen of bad decisions," he teased. "But perhaps now you'll make a few less as you have someone to live for and be mindful of. That's how it was once explained to me, but I was in a war so the memo fell short."
no subject
"I've been thinking having her in my life has definitely curtailed some of the worst of my decisions, so she's been quite the good influence," she added before winking as they did a slow turn. "And there's still some hope for you yet."
no subject
He hummed in agreement. It was something that was common in relationships. With something to live for, there might be a touch less recklessness. "Seeing you less reckless does please me. I'd hate to have to kill whatever you went up against." No, he wouldn't. He'd probably enjoy the challenge, but shush. "Excuse you, I'm the less reckless one in my relationship. Maul's all young and vibrant and can be temperamental."
no subject
"Oh, you won't hear any arguments with you. You are definitely the less prone to dangerous risks," she admitted, winking at him. "And I think perhaps... one result of my having sacrificed the magic that I did? It's taught me to step back. To not rely on power that gets taken away. I take far fewer risks." And she knew he wasn't the only one that appreciated it. Minako certainly was one to prefer she not get her head knocked off again.
no subject
"I would also point out that I have a higher survivability when I do get myself into those dangerous situations." He rumbled in agreement with her. It did seem like her magic being stripped from her had settled her down and forced caution in her. Maybe that also lead the way for leaning more into the relationship. "So it sounds like some sacrifices have benefitted you with more stability. Who would have thought."
no subject
"Mmmm. Having people to live for has increasingly helped. It tends to give us reason to know that our being removed from the picture would only make things worse for them. Holds you back a little bit."
no subject
He hummed in a soft agreement, like it was hard for him to admit and thus he was sharing a personal secret with her. "I suppose you're right, o wise one. They are good motivation and good restraint at the same time. Do you think she would kill for you?"
no subject
"Mmmm. Minako? If she has to, I have little doubt. But I also think she's the sort to try and find a peaceful solution if she can. It's a trait she shares with her friends." She was the more willing to end life of the two. She was certain of that much.
no subject
"Ah, she's one of those." Peaceful negotiator he meant. He might have said it with an air of disdain, but he mostly respected those types. His negotiation tactics tended to involve blackmail after all. "Yes, I'm rather familiar with Makoto, and they all seem to be on the side of what most would consider good."
no subject
"She really does share a lot in common with Makoto, though I think she's much more a veteran. she can be very sensible when it comes to it." Not that Makoto wasn't... but she definitely got a little idealistic at times.
no subject
"Makoto definitely needs some growing up, but that's what friends and experience are for," he said with a shrug. Vira was older than him and likely seen even more battle experience than he had, but he still considered them equals. Both of them had lived long lives. "You need a mature partner but also one still youthful enough to keep you young." A beat. "Because you're old."
no subject
"Mmmm. I've got too many centuries under my belt, but I swear the last 5 years of our lives have added a century on their own sometimes."
no subject
He swung her around one more time as the song they danced to came to an end. "I haven't even made to it a single century, but I still have to agree with you." He released his hold on her and swung into a deep bow of respect for her. "But you still don't look a day over twenty."
