[He smiles back, a little shyly]

Uh, yeah, I think so? Little girl, looked maybe about eight?

[jedies]

Ten, actually. We went on an adventure of sorts. She had been kidnapped and her father asked me to rescue her.

[hearuthinking]

[Gives him an amused look]

And you don't think that's very interesting, huh?

[jedies]

[ wryly. ]

You don't know how many missions I've had just like these.

Though . . . Leia is special.

[hearuthinking]

I got that.

[He tries to give off an "I'm here to listen" kind of vibe]

[jedies]

[ obi-wan exhales softly. ]

You could say she's family.

[hearuthinking]

[He nods; he got that, too, from the way Obi-wan was with her. Jason wants to hear more but he doesn't want to interrupt, so he tilts his head to one side and waits.

Jedi can read people, right? Jason hopes Obi-wan reads him as a person he can talk to about anything]

[jedies]

[ obi-wan is no mind-reader, but emotions and feelings can be easily read in the Force. ]

My . . . student . . . left behind two children before he passed away. So I dedicated my life to them, even if they do not know that.

[hearuthinking]

[Jason's current emotion is affection. The words don't surprise him; this is the sort of thing he likes about Obi-wan]

Those kids are lucky to have you, whether they know it or not.

[A short silence]

It was Anakin, right? The student. I swear I ain't listening to your thoughts.

[jedies]

No. I didn't think you were.

[ he sighs softly. ]

And it is rather obvious.

[hearuthinking]

I can read people pretty well without powers.

[He shifts awkwardly again. He wishes he knew what kind of comfort to give]

I'm sorry for your loss.

[jedies]

. . . It's all right. He died a long time ago.

[hearuthinking]

[He senses this is a subject change time]

You should come by the Sanctuary soon. I wanna hear more about your rescue adventure.

[jedies]

[ he smiles faintly. ]

It's not all that grand.

[hearuthinking]

Maybe. But I hoped you would wanna tell me about it anyway.

[jedies]

Of course.

[hearuthinking]

[As if his outward smile isn't enough, he has to go all happy and relieved on the inside. He gives Obi-wan a little nudge]

Stop worryin' if it's "interesting". You know that's not why I like you.

[jedies]

Oh?

Should I ask what parts you do like?

[hearuthinking]

[He takes in a slow breath and releases it. Very slowly Jason reaches out and manages to grip onto Obi-wan's fingers]

You're calm and patient. You're bad-ass, you look for peace first, you're smart... And you have such a good heart. I only saw you with Leia for two minutes and I could see how much you loved her.

Those are the things I like about you, Obi-wan. Your Jedi shit is cool and I still wanna see it in action, but only 'cause I think it'd be nice to see you show off for a change. You don't gotta impress me or entertain me 'cause I promise you, I'd like you just the same without those powers.

[He falls quiet, feeling strangely okay about exposing his feelings. But he still ends with a little smirk and something not quite so serious]

It don't hurt that you're hot as hell.

[ oh, he's honestly quite touched by this. he leans over to press a kiss to jason's forehead. ]

[hearuthinking]

[Jason freezes up feeling the kiss on his skin. He can't breathe properly and his whole face goes red. He can feel his heart pounding, his body alive in excited tingles. Jason grows bolder and takes Obi-wan's hand firmly in his, leaning closer.

All those fears and doubts are quiet in his head for once. He closes his eyes and just breathes in the moment]

[jedies]

[ obi-wan squeezes the hand in comfort. ]

Shall we?

[hearuthinking]

[Jason blinks at him dazedly] Yeah, sure.

[He should probably clarify what he's agreeing to]

[jedies]

To the Sanctuary, for the rest of the story. Since you asked.

[hearuthinking]

Oh, yeah. [That had gone completely out of his head, and just from a kiss to the forehead. But Jason doesn't look that embarrassed]

You distracted me.

[He keeps his hold on Obi-wan's hand, though the grip's loose enough that Obi-wan can let go if he wants. Jason knows the way to the Sanctuary by heart after going there so many times on patrol and helping test out that talisman. He chats a bit about that (still no negative effects from the talisman) and his time losing the various senses]

I made you somethin': it's a Russian drink. I figure we can drink it while we swap stories about what we were up to back home.
