Well, there's safe, and there's too safe. [a bit of a far off frown lines his face.] It's not always "out there" that's the problem.

[she might realize what he's intimating after watching that awful memory - the danger had been living inside his daughter's own body (danger danger the caller is coming from inside the house) - and later, it had just been him and his unaddressed grief.]

I didn't either, until it started happening. It's the first time I've had someone see one of mine, though. At least it's over, right?

...I think so. I've done it before.

[Granted, there are likely still a lot of dangers out there that she hasn't accounted for yet, but after holding off an army with a pack of wolves and saving her father from being dealt a finishing blow, her confidence isn't entirely misplaced. She knows how to defend herself in a pinch as long as she has her crossbow, at least.]

Things got pretty dangerous back home, before I came here. But there were people I needed to help.
