( stefan laughs, liking that she's feeling playful. he puts a foot on the ground and kicks off, giving them both a little push. he reaches out for her hand. )

[ she lifts a shoulder as she does her legs, enjoying him taking control of the swing as he moves beneath them. ]

It was okay. Spent the day with the dog. I reorganised my shoe collection. The kids are inside playing with blocks. Be careful, there's a stray block somewhere and you're bound to step on it.

[ has katherine made sure he'd be the one stepping on it? maybe. the kids need to learn how to best scheme from someone! ]

Of course, not. They embodied you today. Luka decided he'd throw dirt at Nadia and Nadia decided she'd throw a tantrum because I braided her hair wrong.

[ katherine rolls her eyes and lifts her glass to her lips. ]

( he laughs at the answer, looking back towards the house even if he can't see them. )

What are they doing now?

They were meant to build me a little city out of Lego, but I have a feeling Nadia is wearing my shoes and Luca is throwing things at the wall.

[ she sighs heavily and leans back, prompting the swing to move. ]

I can't smell smoke, so your journals aren't on fire yet.

They don't know where my journals are.

( at least he doesn't think they do. )

Nadia's going to be busy all night if she's trying to wear all your shoes.

[ katherine rolls her eyes and slouches in the swinging seat. she turns to him, leaning back slightly as she regards him with a deep frown. ]

Why don't the children know where they are?

[ there's no point in agreeing with stefan about what he says regarding nadia. nadia will be busy all night. the shoes will tire her out, and hopefully she'll sleep in her bed rather than climbing into theirs. it's all they can hope for. ]

Because I know you'd be able to bribe them and they'd tell you where they were.

[ she laughs, shaking her head incredulously. he's got it one hundred percent right. ]

I would never bribe our children. [ she furrows her brows as she clucks her tongue in disappointment. ] Never.

[ with one last shake of her head, she lifts her glass to her lips to hide her smile. ]

I'd simply ask them and offer them something in return.
