"If I leave it up to him, he will be old and grey and with cracked horns before he gets around to finding a mate of his own. Meddling is the only way to get him to do anything good for him," he says as a counterpoint. But he does smile a little when she says it's a sign he cares. "I hope he sees it that way. I fear I do not show it enough to him." Sometimes, Maul could be very standoffish and pull away even from someone as close to him as his brother was.

Maul considers the prospects of getting up versus laying there but Willow does have a point. He doesn't want to be stepped on. So with an exaggerated groan he takes her hand and hauls himself to his feet. Staggering over to the bench, he collapses onto it and then flops sideways so that he's lying down on it. He might end up just going to sleep right here once the dozy part of the high hits.

"It's never too late to start. He's made it pretty clear to me that you're the most important person in his life," Willow answers as she braces herself to let him pull himself to his feet.

She watches in bemusement as he lays down on the bench, taking up the whole thing. He certainly looks comfortable enough, and she doesn't think anyone will mess with him if he falls asleep, given the risk of waking him and provoking his rage, but she still feels like she ought to double check. They might not be on the same side, but it doesn't feel right to leave him vulnerable and clearly inebriated. "Are you going to be okay here?"

"Yes. And he is the same for me. I'd do anything to make him happy." Maul usually isn't so blunt with his emotions but the inebriated state he's in has made some of his walls come down. Force help Trench the day something or someone kills Savage for the first time. There wouldn't be a single person in the entire city that would be able to calm down Maul from the state of anger and grief he'll be thrown into.

Maul looks up at Willow from where he's lying, one arm propped behind his head the way he often does when he's sleeping. The Sith Lord isn't concerned with falling asleep in such an unusual place. He's slept in far more uncomfortable places than a bench in the middle of a city. He nods to the young witch. "Oh, I'll be fine. Just fine." He pauses, eyes beginning to shut. As an afterthought, he adds on: "You may stay for a while if you want to. Because I like your hair." So that way Willow can get some relief from her constant migraine.

It still throws her, these times when Maul is downright decent in contrast to the terrifying figure who was more than willing to strike her down in the street outside her own home. She smiles faintly. "Yeah, I've got people like that in my life too."

She glances down as he shuts his eyes to rest, and shakes her head. She doesn't want to disturb him, and she doesn't want to be around when he comes down off his high, and realize the things he's said and done. "Nah, I should get home. You, uh, get some good rest, okay?"

"G'night," Maul mumbles. After his eyes close, it only takes a few minutes before he's fast asleep. He'll wake up a little stiff from sleeping on a bench for hours on end but it's not the worst spot he's ever hung his hat to sleep. When he does awaken, he's going to be mortified and pretend that this never happened at all.
