[open] Wuko Wedding
Who: Mako, Wu, and you!
What: GETTING MARRIED
When: February 20th
Where: The beach, through the city, at the Raccoon Room in Cellar Door.
Content Warnings: An inordinate amount of fluff, potentially event happenings.
The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. It starts with just the two of them, at a flower arch on the beach, their hands clasped together, each in a gold suit with red and green accents on the collar and as piping down the front. They walk together along a flower strewn path, talking quietly with one another, sharing small, nervous smiles.
If you are close to the couple, you recieved a red envelope, delivered either by raccoon or small dragon, a few days before the wedding, inviting you to the ceremony. The small crowd gathers outside the Raccoon Room, where the threshold is decked out in red roses. The couple stands in the doorway, saying their vows, and pressing a blood-and-ash covered hand to the other's cheek.
While the ceremony is private, the reception isn't. Invites have gone out to basically the entire city, via Wu's post, so it's a pretty public event. Maybe you're coming because you saw that post. Maybe you're coming because you're involved somehow, maybe you just see a flower-and-light-filled party and decide to drop in. Everyone is welcome. After all, this is Trench, and everyone could be dead tomorrow, so why not celebrate something good while you have the chance? Come in, dance to music from different worlds, eat cake and noodles and dumplings, celebrate a little moment of happiness while you can. The party's going all night, and the couple making their solemn, slightly-bloody vows to each other are only the excuse for it.
((ooc: Make top-levels to your hearts' content, mingle, have a good time! This is a Trench party and it's open to everyone!

The Wedding
It's not a normal wedding. There's no officiant, they're not standing up in front of a bunch of people to declare their love: this is a Trench wedding, based on Mako and Wu's shared traditions, inventing some new ones. The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. [ And, also, Mako's stamina for dancing is just so much less than Wu's, and they both know that. He grins at Ange all the same, his eyes bright, one hand firmly on Fritter's back to keep her from lunging at everyone else. ]
Didn't think you'd stick around for this long.

[ Maybe it's a little more candid than she'd usually be, but.. eh. She's talking to Mako, for one - even if he's saying husband affectionately, sheesh!! - and this is an important occasion. If there was any time for Ange to show a few more genuine emotions, it would be right now. ]
Besides, I wanted to make sure to still properly congratulate you. You know, at a moment when you weren't dancing. [ Aka: right now.
Even if Mako is currently holding onto a struggling Fritter. ]
I'm really glad for the two of you. You look so happy.
no subject
Mako, used to this, absolutely ignores her to smile at Ange: a wide smile, full of laughter, because Wu is just visible behind her, a gold blur on the dance floor. ]
I am happy.
[ This is a night for honesty and a night for joy, and similarly: this is Ange, who is currently a bastion of quiet in a very loud party. ]
And I'm really glad you're here. You're one of my best friends, you know that? The ceremony wouldn't have been the same without you. The party wouldn't be the same without you.
no subject
Calling her a best friend? Out in the open? Saying that stuff isn't the same without her? It's not like it's bad, but those compliments are so overwhelming to a girl like Ange that she can feel the little Anges running around in her brain slamming the panic button over and over. ]
W-What's up with that?
[ She doesn't even sound offended.
Just startled. And flustered. ]
Is that Wu speaking through you or something? You can't say that stuff so casually, Mako! [ I-It's not allowed! She can't take it! ]
no subject
[ Mako protests, flushed with the heat in the room and also absolutely with the drinks Renfri's serving.
And, you know. Embarrassment at his affection being called out. Fritter uses this opportunity to right herself and scramble up onto Mako's shoulder. ]
Aren't you the one who's always telling me I'm nice?
no subject
[ In this thread: two compliment-adverse introverts, trying to convince the other that their compliments for the other are totally valid, but not when it's the other way around.
And Fritter finally finding freedom. ]
Or are you saying that you're finally ready to accept that you're nice now? Do you think Wu would marry someone who isn't nice?
no subject
[ He loves you, Wu, but— ]
Come on, you're telling me you've met Wu and you don't think his type is people who he wants to impress? He doesn't want nice. He wants...
[ He... wants Mako. For some reason, that Mako still hasn't quite wrapped his head around. Why is his face so cold? Coldblood is the worst. ]
You know. Me.
[ Fritter, sensing yet another opportunity, chooses this moment to fling herself from Mako's shoulder directly at Ange like a tiny furry missile. ]
But I'm serious. Nice or not, Ange, this city would be a lot less tolerable without you in it. I'll stop with the mushy stuff, but you have to know that.
no subject
Thankfully Ange doesn't seem concerned with her food in the slightest in the face of what Mako is saying. Even as he's saying he'll quit the mushy stuff, she still feels her face heating up. ]
I.. um. I didn't know you felt that strongly about me.
[ At least she's not rejecting it anymore? Maybe it's the magic of Fritter. ]
I mean, I'm no one special.
no subject
I don't think you have to be someone special to be important to somebody. You're you. That's what counts here.
no subject
[ She's not often that important to anyone. But saying that feels kind of pathetic, so Ange swallows the words down. They only show in her flustered facial expression as her gaze turns downwards, staring at the creature that's very much busy devouring food while sitting in her arms. ]
.. I'd hug you, but I'm not sure if that's against some sort of wedding rules, and I've got a raccoon in my arms.
no subject
In that case, you're spared. Thanks for coming, Ange.
no subject
Thankfully he doesn't ask her anything she has to attempt to give an incredibly flustered answer to. Instead she can just let out the faintest sight of relief, accepting that shoulder squeeze. She can at least take that much, especially when it's coming from Mako. ]
I'm glad to be here.
[ She'll even give him that little admission, before attempting to hand Fritter back to him.
Or maybe she escapes. Who knows. Fritter is a free spirit. ]
I hope you find the wedding party fun. Or.. you know, that you're at least getting what you expected out of it. [ Since neither of them is super all for huge social gatherings, so.. as long as it's fun to Mako in a Mako-way, then it's fine. ]
no subject
[ Hm there is a polite answer to this, which is yeah, of course it's fun, and a real answer to it, and it's kind of hard to think about the polite answer with Fritter climbing up his arm with sharp little claws to cling to his shoulder, and also it's Ange and Mako's tongue is a little loose, so— ]
It's a party, and everyone keeps trying to talk to me and tell me I must be so happy, and I... don't really know how many more times I can say yeah, I am, Wu's great. This is for him, you know? But it's nice. Guess I didn't expect so many people to show up.
no subject
[ It's a bit cheeky to say that in response to Mako being so honest, but it's really a light kind of teasing. Maybe exactly because Ange recognizes the sentiment he's expressing here so well. She's pretty sure she would be saying the exact same thing in his shoes here.
Tilting her head slightly, she continues. ]
If you need a bit of a break from it, I can keep on talking with you for a while more. [ You know, so Mako will seem preoccupied in case one of the more wildly social types tries to approach him. Like Ange is a living introvert shield. ]
