[open] Wuko Wedding
Who: Mako, Wu, and you!
What: GETTING MARRIED
When: February 20th
Where: The beach, through the city, at the Raccoon Room in Cellar Door.
Content Warnings: An inordinate amount of fluff, potentially event happenings.
The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. It starts with just the two of them, at a flower arch on the beach, their hands clasped together, each in a gold suit with red and green accents on the collar and as piping down the front. They walk together along a flower strewn path, talking quietly with one another, sharing small, nervous smiles.
If you are close to the couple, you recieved a red envelope, delivered either by raccoon or small dragon, a few days before the wedding, inviting you to the ceremony. The small crowd gathers outside the Raccoon Room, where the threshold is decked out in red roses. The couple stands in the doorway, saying their vows, and pressing a blood-and-ash covered hand to the other's cheek.
While the ceremony is private, the reception isn't. Invites have gone out to basically the entire city, via Wu's post, so it's a pretty public event. Maybe you're coming because you saw that post. Maybe you're coming because you're involved somehow, maybe you just see a flower-and-light-filled party and decide to drop in. Everyone is welcome. After all, this is Trench, and everyone could be dead tomorrow, so why not celebrate something good while you have the chance? Come in, dance to music from different worlds, eat cake and noodles and dumplings, celebrate a little moment of happiness while you can. The party's going all night, and the couple making their solemn, slightly-bloody vows to each other are only the excuse for it.
((ooc: Make top-levels to your hearts' content, mingle, have a good time! This is a Trench party and it's open to everyone!

The Wedding
It's not a normal wedding. There's no officiant, they're not standing up in front of a bunch of people to declare their love: this is a Trench wedding, based on Mako and Wu's shared traditions, inventing some new ones. The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. My favorite tavern wench! How are you doing? Are my guests treating you right? Did you get some cake? Oh, I'll get you some cake!
[ He starts to push himself up and slips just a little with a bright laugh. He isn't used to drinking very much, and he just had to try all of them. ]

[She's getting pretty good at busting these out, now that the night is in swing and she's found her rhythm; when she hits the garnishing stage, Wu gets two cherries instead of just one, because of course, he's special.
That said, when she slides it over, she's also examining him with a critical eye.]
You've had one of each, now, haven't you? Make sure you eat something to soak it up, or you'll regret it in the morning. Or maybe a bit before then, depending on your plans for the rest of the night.
[She pauses.]
Actually, why don't you stay here and drink it. Save you a trip back with the glass, when you're finished.
[And so she can keep an eye on him for a little while longer, while he does.]

[ Wu pulls the drink toward himself, taking a very loud sip out of the straw. For someone raised in a palace, some of his manners are really wanting. ]
You sure you don't want cake? We could both have cake! Lysithea made it, she's so good at baking, the best there is! Lysitherie Patisser....ie. [ Did he get the name of her shop right? He doesn't know, and shrugs it off with another slurp of the drink ]
I'm planning on being here until the end. The very end! With all my good friends, and my husband. [ He laughs at the word, so incredibly elated that he can say it now. But after a moment he refocuses on her ] What about you?! Any, any guys or gals out there that you got your eye on?
no subject
I do want cake, actually. Who's Lysithea?
[Meanwhile, she's lowkey scoping to see if anybody is relatively nearby who she can signal to 1) bring them some cake or 2) make sure Wu doesn't fall and crack his head open on the floor, or 3) both.]
Oh, are you going to play matchmaker for me now?
[She says, looking patently amused.]
no subject
[ He turns back to Renfri, waggling his eyebrows ] Maybe! What kind of person do you like, buddy? Big and strong? Loud, quiet, musical, sweet?
[ He'll remember about cake... eventually. ]
no subject
[The funny thing is that Lysithea is quite possibly older than Renfri at this point, but the short stature, elfin features, and distance across the ballroom aren't doing her any favors on that one.]
Me? I like...
[She thinks about it, really thinks about just going for it — but it's Wu, and she's not that mean.]
Someone I could depend on. The sort of person I could ask for anything, d'you know what I mean? Even if they couldn't give it to me, I could still ask. And wouldn't have to feel bad about asking.

[ Wu met her when she was so much younger. She isn't really all that different, now, just a bit more worldly, a bit less quick to judge.
He smiles and nods as she speaks ]
Yes, yes! That's really what we all need, isn't it? Someone to rely on, someone who will be there when we need them. That, well. That doesn't really narrow things down, because that's all about, about how you feel about them, but...
[ He leans back to survey his guests, pointing them out in turn ]
Well, Lysithea is great! Very dependable. She's rescued me at least half a dozen times. A real right place right time kinda gal.
Manabu, he's very reliable. A great guy! Give him something to do, and he'll do it, bam!
Oh, oh, and Bolin! He's Mako's brother. A real standup guy. He was a mover star, back home. Couldn't ask for a nice guy.
Although, really, Manabu and Bolin would probably give you anything you wanted just because that's who they are. Bend over backwards to do something for a gal.

[But she follows Wu's finger around the room, marking each individual in their turn and taking stock for later. There's definitely an assortment of characters here, and it never hurts to know which ones are the nice ones. Or the easily-persuaded ones.]
...What's a "movie star"? Something important, I gather?
no subject
[ It was in their marriage vows (it was not). In his head, Mako grumbles that he already did that ]
Oh, yes! A celebrity! Mover, you know movers, right? Movies, Earth people call them. They're like plays, but that are recorded, and that you can watch all the time.
[ Ah, Renfri. Sweet Renfri. Now is time for your true initiation into being Wu's friend. He gets his Omni would of his pocket and pulls up what else but Lil Nas X's timeless classic music video, Old Town Road ]
They can be short, like this one, or whole big shows! This is one of my favorites.
[ And, yes, he is just going to make her watch Old Town Road now. ]
no subject
So people use the visions on the Omnis to tell stories that can be watched again and again, and there are people who are celebrities in them, and this thing that Wu is showing her is one of them.
...It appears to be a "mover" about bandits. She approves already, and points in indication at the screen.]
He's easy on the eyes. Why don't you set me up with him?
[GOOD FUCKING LUCK WITH THAT ONE, WU]
no subject
[ If only he was here... but at least she seems into it, which is really something he finds validating. More people should love Lil Nas X! ]
So, that's your type. Let's see, let's see... the problem is most of my friends are together already! But, there's got to be someone out there for you. You're a catch, Renfri!
no subject
[She winks at him, though, to soften up what otherwise sounds like self-deprecation, because it's Wu's wedding day and he's tipsy and she wants to be funny without making him feel bad for her in the process.]
Don't worry your pretty little head over it. It'd be nice, but I'll be fine either way.
no subject
[ He shakes his head with a wistful sigh, and his eyes stray across the party to find Mako again. He's been doing that a lot all night, just looking for Mako and getting the sappiest look on his face when he find him in the crowd ]
You'll find someone, buddy. You'll find someone. But-- Oh! [ He remembers his drink, and downs it the rest of the way before dipping his hand into his pocket to pull out some very shiny gemstones, dropping them to the bar ]
Your tip! From me. Thank you, really. You're so wonderful, Renfri. I'm so glad you rescued me from that awful snake!
