[open] Wuko Wedding
Who: Mako, Wu, and you!
What: GETTING MARRIED
When: February 20th
Where: The beach, through the city, at the Raccoon Room in Cellar Door.
Content Warnings: An inordinate amount of fluff, potentially event happenings.
The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. It starts with just the two of them, at a flower arch on the beach, their hands clasped together, each in a gold suit with red and green accents on the collar and as piping down the front. They walk together along a flower strewn path, talking quietly with one another, sharing small, nervous smiles.
If you are close to the couple, you recieved a red envelope, delivered either by raccoon or small dragon, a few days before the wedding, inviting you to the ceremony. The small crowd gathers outside the Raccoon Room, where the threshold is decked out in red roses. The couple stands in the doorway, saying their vows, and pressing a blood-and-ash covered hand to the other's cheek.
While the ceremony is private, the reception isn't. Invites have gone out to basically the entire city, via Wu's post, so it's a pretty public event. Maybe you're coming because you saw that post. Maybe you're coming because you're involved somehow, maybe you just see a flower-and-light-filled party and decide to drop in. Everyone is welcome. After all, this is Trench, and everyone could be dead tomorrow, so why not celebrate something good while you have the chance? Come in, dance to music from different worlds, eat cake and noodles and dumplings, celebrate a little moment of happiness while you can. The party's going all night, and the couple making their solemn, slightly-bloody vows to each other are only the excuse for it.
((ooc: Make top-levels to your hearts' content, mingle, have a good time! This is a Trench party and it's open to everyone!

The Wedding
It's not a normal wedding. There's no officiant, they're not standing up in front of a bunch of people to declare their love: this is a Trench wedding, based on Mako and Wu's shared traditions, inventing some new ones. The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. [Aaaaaaand in goes a solid overpour on the alcohol, as she keeps up the chatter and builds his cocktail. Sure it might wind up unbalanced because of it, but so what, the man's half-drunk right now anyway.]
Pale for me. Means I can see the future, or make people like me, evidently.
no subject
[He sees it. He sees it and he decides immediately that he likes this woman. Hello new bestie, it's the himbo you've been looking for.]
Coldblood is elemental. Fire, ice, lightening. Anything that burns, I guess. I'd show you but we're inside and Mako might kick my ass.
no subject
And you've clearly got your priorities in order. Well, coldblood, that's what this one is called — "fire". So it should be right up your alley.
[Briskly, she finishes it off — a lovely red-hued drink that she garnishes with orange and cherry before sliding it over to him.]
Let's see if you like me even better after you taste it.
no subject
Tell me your name and I'll show you a trick.
no subject
[where have all the responsible adults gone (and where are all the gods)]
You can earn the rest.
no subject
Don't fuck with me, your name isn't Raleigh too.
no subject
Maybe it is. What'll you do then?
no subject
no subject
[But she does want to see what he's got up his sleeve, so she'll take pity on him.]
It's Renfri. Now let's see this trick of yours.
no subject
[Is it, Raleigh? That is not a common name.
He slaps the bar like aha! I knew it! Grinning ear to ear, and with one more glance over his shoulder, he leans in like they're conspirators.]
C'mere, c'mere.
[Raleigh closes his hand tight and concentrates. When he opens it again, there is a ball of living fire just merrily chilling out there in his palm. In fact, his whole hand is on fire but it's pooling inwards towards the middle, blue flames from his fingers feeding the large orange collection.]
no subject
[And truthfully, whatever it is she'd been expecting — some kind of gimmicky thing to do with his alcohol, maybe — the man suddenly producing a little ball of fire in his hand definitely wasn't it. The surprise comes visibly to her face; almost without thinking, she moves her hand over and briskly sweeps her fingers through the very tips of the flames, the way that someone might harmlessly play with a candle (or, harmlessly, so long as they're fast enough about it).
It's hard to say what she's more entranced by: the fire itself, or the display of apparent magic that produced it. Either way, she's clearly impressed.]
Pretty...
[If he lights the bar and all its alcohol on fire there's going to be hell to pay, but that's a worry for a later Renfri.]
Well, now I'm jealous. I can't do anything so fancy in return.
no subject
[Palebloods are not fortune tellers, Raleigh. But.. Aren't they, though..
He lets her play with the fire for a second before releasing his hold on the element and reaching for his drink. It's pretty cool. He knows it's pretty cool. And he trains for it a lot which is why he can do this and not firebomb the club.
Raleigh maybe.. dicks around with his powers while he's drunk like. Maybe more than he should.]
1/2
[She waits until the fire is out and the drink has replaced it in his hand before starting in on her own little production, circling her open-palmed hands in the air like she's wafting them over an imaginary crystal ball before touching one set of fingertips to her forehead while the others start to waggle in midair.]
I see...I see...that you are a man who makes good on his promises. I see empty glasses...clothes askew...I hear music — yes, music! — and a man, he's you, he's...dancing, atop this bar, he's dancing. Oooooo-oooooooh.
[Give the woman an Oscar.]
no subject
She's turning her attention back from the theatrics to her drinks when her vision goes silver-hazy, and the amused, theatrical humor gradually seeps out of her expression until it's blank and almost a touch vulnerable, her head slightly tilted and her eyes hazing over as her gaze seems to fix into the middle distance and hold there.
So either she's an exceedingly good actress, or she's not acting.]
You'll smile. He'll look at you and you'll feel seen like no one ever has. You can't wait and you won't want to. You'll find a place to be alone together and you'll know it's worth it. It will always be worth it. He will always be worth it.
[The words fall from her mouth measured, steady, even — and then all of a sudden she starts like a sleeper waking from a falling dream, and frowns at her workspace like she's surprised she hasn't been doing something at it all this time.]
no subject
And it seems like that's that until it isn't. Until the air shifts and Renfri continues in a way that Raleigh can't possibly mistake for a gimmick.
It would be scary if her words weren't so good. They fit exactly right into the projection Raleigh has of his own evening. Of his own feelings. He's never mentioned Chuck, she doesn't know who he is. How would she know?
Raleigh gives it a beat, drunk brain rolling around and around and around like a squid in a bathtub. Was that? Did she just?
Forget his drink, he reaches for her, just a little, just to touch his finger against her hand.]
Renfri. Did you just seriously see my future? For real?
no subject
What, that you're going to get up here and dance? I'm all for it, personally. I'll even keep watch for Mako to make sure he doesn't come tell you to get down.
[Well, hm.]
no subject
Like full on prophecy.
no subject
[Except. Except. He doesn't look at all like he's fucking with her, and a nagging feeling is starting to creep in at the back of her mind.]
...Did I. Did you hear me say something, before?
no subject
[C'mon brain, do the thing. It's comin-]
It will always be worth it. He will always be worth it. I didn't know that you knew Chuck?
no subject
[Her brow furrows; it's possible that she said something she doesn't remember, but why wouldn't she remember it? Her Paleblood powers have never manifested that way before —
Although, to be fair, they've barely manifested at all, before. So.]
He's the one who was filming you, wasn't he? I didn't know you...recognized who I was talking about. Whoever I was talking about, I suppose. I don't remember it.
no subject
Huh.
Renfri, I think you just had like a real prophecy. It was good. You really don't remember?
no subject
I wasn't trying to do anything for real. It's just my luck it finally happened like this, I suppose. Most Palebloods remember what they saw, as I understand it.
[She shrugs, flashing him a wry look.]
I'm not very good at all this blood business, if you can't already tell. Probably best I stick to serving drinks.
no subject
[He finally comes back for that drink. It's good.]
S'good. You're good. Should give yourself a chance, you would be amazed at what you're capable of if you believe in yourself.
Its okay- it's okay, it's okay, I'll believe in you.
