What: GETTING MARRIED
When: February 20th
Where: The beach, through the city, at the Raccoon Room in Cellar Door.
Content Warnings: An inordinate amount of fluff, potentially event happenings.
The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. It starts with just the two of them, at a flower arch on the beach, their hands clasped together, each in a gold suit with red and green accents on the collar and as piping down the front. They walk together along a flower strewn path, talking quietly with one another, sharing small, nervous smiles.
If you are close to the couple, you recieved a red envelope, delivered either by raccoon or small dragon, a few days before the wedding, inviting you to the ceremony. The small crowd gathers outside the Raccoon Room, where the threshold is decked out in red roses. The couple stands in the doorway, saying their vows, and pressing a blood-and-ash covered hand to the other's cheek.
While the ceremony is private, the reception isn't. Invites have gone out to basically the entire city, via Wu's post, so it's a pretty public event. Maybe you're coming because you saw that post. Maybe you're coming because you're involved somehow, maybe you just see a flower-and-light-filled party and decide to drop in. Everyone is welcome. After all, this is Trench, and everyone could be dead tomorrow, so why not celebrate something good while you have the chance? Come in, dance to music from different worlds, eat cake and noodles and dumplings, celebrate a little moment of happiness while you can. The party's going all night, and the couple making their solemn, slightly-bloody vows to each other are only the excuse for it.

[Well, hey, at least someone was lucky enough to only get Bigby's good side, last month. He spots the fellow wallflower a ways off, and, well. He waves. Sorry, buddy.]
[Then he's making his way through the party to come hang out with him. They can be wallflowers together. Shiro's dressed to the nines, because he'd promised Wu, and it does nothing to hide the handprint he's sporting as well - mostly along the back of his neck, with a thumbprint at his jawline.]

[The handprint does get a glance from Bigby, but no pressing questions. Honestly, he can easily conclude what that is about. Instead, he looks back down to his feet, still feeling a bit overwhelmed in a space with so many people.]

[A genuine question. No judgment here. Wu had opened the doors to... the... entire city.]

[He knows that Shiro means no harm by it, but the idea of going to a crowded event just for food is a horrible idea to him.
Bigby offers a hesitant smile.]
Wu invited me. I have only spoken to him once, but he seems a pleasant man. I would like to wish him and his husband nothing but newfound joy in each other. Such unions are not common anymore where I am from. To find love despite the darkness... that is a true gift.

[Smack him, Bigby. Maybe that'd dislodge the foot from his mouth.]
[But the smile is encouraging.]
"Pleasant" is putting it mildly. [He says it with a smile of his own. That's a joke. Wu is great.] I'm glad you came out - I'm sure he is too.
Marriage in general isn't common?

[No offense is taken. Crowds are just usually a horrible idea for him.
Bigby gives an awkward shrug.]
More in that finding love despite everything is rarely celebrated. I suppose marriage is common enough. To find solace and joy in the company of another... that is rarer.
Though perhaps I speak too cynically.

[He's found, since his life started getting Weird, how important that kind of connection was. And not even just romantic love. Family... friends.]
[Would any of them have gotten out of Deerington sane, without it?]
I know this place isn't perfect - it's pretty much the furthest thing from it. But, at least it has that going for it.
And it's not marriage but - as your friend, I like your company.

The companions I have made here... they mean much to me. You, and many others. When I woke in Trench, I could never dream of having been so accepted and welcome despite what I am. I am still adapting to that.

[You know what - he reaches over, to clasp Bigby on the shoulder. It's not a fast movement, like always, it's one the other man could sidestep if Bigby chose.]
Then of all the weird places to wake up, I'm glad it was here. There's always been horrors - here, and Deerington - but we've managed to stick together pretty well.

Even in the Dream, there were people who felt that way. People whose lives were worse back in their worlds, somehow. I couldn't blame them then, either.
