[open] Wuko Wedding
Who: Mako, Wu, and you!
What: GETTING MARRIED
When: February 20th
Where: The beach, through the city, at the Raccoon Room in Cellar Door.
Content Warnings: An inordinate amount of fluff, potentially event happenings.
The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. It starts with just the two of them, at a flower arch on the beach, their hands clasped together, each in a gold suit with red and green accents on the collar and as piping down the front. They walk together along a flower strewn path, talking quietly with one another, sharing small, nervous smiles.
If you are close to the couple, you recieved a red envelope, delivered either by raccoon or small dragon, a few days before the wedding, inviting you to the ceremony. The small crowd gathers outside the Raccoon Room, where the threshold is decked out in red roses. The couple stands in the doorway, saying their vows, and pressing a blood-and-ash covered hand to the other's cheek.
While the ceremony is private, the reception isn't. Invites have gone out to basically the entire city, via Wu's post, so it's a pretty public event. Maybe you're coming because you saw that post. Maybe you're coming because you're involved somehow, maybe you just see a flower-and-light-filled party and decide to drop in. Everyone is welcome. After all, this is Trench, and everyone could be dead tomorrow, so why not celebrate something good while you have the chance? Come in, dance to music from different worlds, eat cake and noodles and dumplings, celebrate a little moment of happiness while you can. The party's going all night, and the couple making their solemn, slightly-bloody vows to each other are only the excuse for it.
((ooc: Make top-levels to your hearts' content, mingle, have a good time! This is a Trench party and it's open to everyone!

The Wedding
It's not a normal wedding. There's no officiant, they're not standing up in front of a bunch of people to declare their love: this is a Trench wedding, based on Mako and Wu's shared traditions, inventing some new ones. The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. Don't come in after me.
[This was never meant to be conversation about his possible impending doom, but if he's going to trust anyone with that, it's Mako. He knows he can take it. There is a very real possibility he'll be going back into that water sooner rather than later and if he doesn't come back out..
No, no- they can't talk about this right now. He doesn't want to. This is supposed to be a good night.
Raleigh shakes his head a little to clear his train of thought. He's not allowed to doom spiral at Mako's wedding, strictly enforced.]
That's not what I meant. I know, man. I know you will, I know you always will. I trust you. You gotta really feel that. It's hard to let someone in, really let them in. You're the only brother I'll ever get to see this happy and I'll do-- fucking anything to keep this for you. Okay? I'll kill for it, I don't care.

[ Mako repeats again, over-full with feeling he doesn't have a place for. It spills into his tone, onto his face, always too-expressive despite his best efforts. What does he do with this devotion not bound by blood? What does he do with Wu tying himself into Mako's head and then all these amazing people coming out here for the two of them? He could have told himself before this moment that they were here for Wu, because Wu is popular and makes friends the way he tries on clothes (easy, graceful, full of laughter).
Raleigh, though, has made it clear that he's here for Mako, too, and. ]
I don't, this is—I don't know what to....
[ His voice is tight, thick with alcohol and feeling. ]
I love you. Hope you know that. And that it isn't weird. You mean the world to me. All the worlds. Every world.
Wu'll kill you if you kill someone for me, but—you know. I would, too.

From where he's standing, Mako is worth everything.]
I know. I know, it's not weird. It's not, I love you, too. I love you so much, man. Life is so short, we have to say it more. You never know what's coming, and you're doing it. You're making it happen for yourself, I am so fuckin' proud of you.

You can't be proud of me for getting married. Didn't do anything, just—
[ He reaches up, clumsy-fingered, and mashes his palm against Raleigh's cheek. ]
'S it. Now you're married. Easy.

[ Mako yells and smushes his now-wet hand right over Raleigh's cheek like a five-year-old instead the 22-year-old married man he now is, laughing the entire time. ]

[He cackles like a hen, leaning into Mako's hand with his tongue out like he's threatening to do it again.
He doesn't, though. He parries with his own hand to catch Mako's cheek and hold him there. Right on his pretty new bond mark. If he were sober he wouldn't dare. It feels like something sacred.]
