[open] Wuko Wedding
Who: Mako, Wu, and you!
What: GETTING MARRIED
When: February 20th
Where: The beach, through the city, at the Raccoon Room in Cellar Door.
Content Warnings: An inordinate amount of fluff, potentially event happenings.
The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. It starts with just the two of them, at a flower arch on the beach, their hands clasped together, each in a gold suit with red and green accents on the collar and as piping down the front. They walk together along a flower strewn path, talking quietly with one another, sharing small, nervous smiles.
If you are close to the couple, you recieved a red envelope, delivered either by raccoon or small dragon, a few days before the wedding, inviting you to the ceremony. The small crowd gathers outside the Raccoon Room, where the threshold is decked out in red roses. The couple stands in the doorway, saying their vows, and pressing a blood-and-ash covered hand to the other's cheek.
While the ceremony is private, the reception isn't. Invites have gone out to basically the entire city, via Wu's post, so it's a pretty public event. Maybe you're coming because you saw that post. Maybe you're coming because you're involved somehow, maybe you just see a flower-and-light-filled party and decide to drop in. Everyone is welcome. After all, this is Trench, and everyone could be dead tomorrow, so why not celebrate something good while you have the chance? Come in, dance to music from different worlds, eat cake and noodles and dumplings, celebrate a little moment of happiness while you can. The party's going all night, and the couple making their solemn, slightly-bloody vows to each other are only the excuse for it.
((ooc: Make top-levels to your hearts' content, mingle, have a good time! This is a Trench party and it's open to everyone!

The Wedding
It's not a normal wedding. There's no officiant, they're not standing up in front of a bunch of people to declare their love: this is a Trench wedding, based on Mako and Wu's shared traditions, inventing some new ones. The ceremony itself is a procession, from the beach to the Raccoon Room. "I had something like that happen, in the other place. You have my sympathies."

"If they give us anything, it's only so that we'll misuse it to hurt others."

She nods and looks serious. "That's what I'm afraid of."

"All of which are things that, by any common sense, should take years or a lifetime to master. So they come with wisdom about their use, tempering by time and experience."
She shrugs.
"Here they just give everyone the weapons to kill, and I can only assume it's for the sheer pleasure of seeing us do terrible things to each other with them."
It'd take a lot for Korra's opinion of them to rise at all.
"If you are new, or new-ish - the best advice I can give you is this: the Pthumerians love to create moral dilemmas that encourage you to hurt others, and think it right. They make it very, very easy to decide to be violent. Resist."
She smiled, softly.
"And if you need help, I'm always here to do so. Or just to listen. And...I'm sorry for getting all serious on you at a wedding. With kittens."

"And I have neither time nor experience. I think...I'm relatively safe with lightning, just from watching my teammates use it. They were always very careful. The other two?" She shook her head no. "I really am the worst kind of rookie."
And she wants her birthright back. Something discovered eons ago by what would become her bloodline, shared with the other women of her planet.
Tinya sighed and looked...not accepting. More like begrudgingly resigned. "The other world was kind of like that. It would stick us in situations where there were no good options, just the least awful one. I've had a lot of practice resisting things. Usually it got me into trouble, but I don't mind that much."
She smiles back, gently.
"I'll have to take you up on that. And you can always come talk to me, if you want?" But Tinya's smile grew. "It's fine. I'd rather know what I'm in for than have to fumble around on my own. And I'm always happy to show off my kittens."

She stepped back a bit, and moved her hands in a circle around each other, a flame springing into life between them, rolling with the movements of her hands, before she closed them together and it disappeared as quickly as it had arrived.
no subject
And she grinned even wider when she saw Korra summon and manipulate the flame expertly. "Yeah. I definitely want your help."
no subject
She nods, decisively, to carry things along.
"And if you need help with the lightning, talk to Mako. He's the most talented lightning bender in a generation."
