"Maybe we should move, huh?" He gave a subtle nod for her to look up. "Might be safer." For now. Once he was able to get his head back together, he was going to go back and see if he could catch more orbs, but a break would be good at the moment, he figured.

She was grabbing his arm, hustling. It was easy to get away from the thing, from its draining effect, but the fact that she was in this state was a bad sign that something wasn't wrong. It might not have been easily obvious, but Vira-Lorr without hope was a very angry person by nature. "We should hurry. I still don't know what to do about those ... things." She wasn't fully gone yet, but the effects were starting to show in her mood.

The fangs were hard to hide, though.
"Considering history around here, I'm not sure killing them would be a good idea, but I've been trying to recapture those orbs of light they keep stealing from people." Once she'd stopped pulling him away and slowed down, he shifted his bag, the telltale sound of glass clinking slightly inside. He'd gotten a few jars full already, opening it enough for her to see them glowing in there. "See?" He'd heard that keeping the orbs around could be beneficial later.

"Have you tried giving these to people yet? Do they help?"
no subject
"No, I haven't, yet." He frowned a bit. "It feels like... hope?" He sounded unsure. "I looked into it once I saw the first one doing it to someone, and these... butterfly things... they take people's hope. And that might be what the orbs are." He held out the jar to her. He had several already, so he wasn't too worried about her having one. "You can feel it, though. It's kind of... warm..." For lack of a better word.
"We could check the archives and see if there's more there about them."
no subject
"I... I think you're right," she said, her countenance looking better. She was still worn, nervous in ticks, but much less animated. "I think this is hope, and if they're taking that away... that's a very bad thing. Some have little to spare."
no subject
"I'm gonna try to keep catching them," he said. "See how many I can stock up on. I'll do my best to be careful, though. You should, too."
no subject
Which was all well and good to say right now, but when she was at her most paranoid, she might sing another tune.
no subject
"Yeah, sure." He considered the idea for a moment. "I mean, it certainly would be better to work as a team. That way, if one person gets caught up in the thrall, the other could drag them out."

You know... till she ended up shooting one of the bugs later in the month.
no subject
"Right... always make sure to have someone with you if you're going after them."
Which he planned on doing for the rest of the month as well, but he had ideas on how to handle it now. (Not that it would stop him 100% from going after some of them alone...) He handed her some of his empty jars, too.
"Here... in case you come across some orbs you can catch."
no subject
"Just stay safe, ok Keith? I worry... and I don't think that's the hopelessness talking. The danger is easy to underestimate in this."
no subject
"You, too." Honestly, just seeing the change right there when she'd absorbed that one light from the jar was enough. She'd always been kind to him, at least, and offered him information any time he'd asked. He didn't know everything about their previous relationship beyond that they had at least been friends, and that was enough for now. He knew he could count her among his friends, which automatically meant he was going to worry about her, too. "Be careful."
{OOC: good place to stop?}
