Anakin glances down at D's left hand, expecting an Omni or something. Was he on the line with someone else? Did he just happen to leave it on?

"Um. Just moving it around. I don't create or consume it."

[distant_one]

D's left hand is empty. It's just the two of them, apparently, and whatever voice is coming from his left hand.

"Just manipulating it sounds much safer." Even if the kid can't create or destroy it, D is still curious. It's a rare skill.

"Simpler, too, if he just works with what's already there and doesn't need to make it or worry about running out." The hoarse, small voice says in a contemplative tone.

"Can you use it to heal as well?"

Anakin's starting to wonder if answering all of these questions is a good idea. People taking too much interest in his powers tends to make him jumpy. Still, it seems like relatively innocuous conversation and, if D and this mystery voice are a threat, better he learn about it than Luke.

"Yes, but I don't have a lot of experience with that. It takes a lot of energy, especially if you don't specialize in it."

Okay, now he's curious. "I only see two of us but there are three voices. Where's your friend?"

[distant_one]

D lifts his left hand and turns it so the palm is facing the young man, not even bothering to correct the assumption that this is his friend. In the middle of D's palm is a lumpy, ugly little face. It has tiny dark eyes and a wide mouth with missing and mismatched teeth.

"I'm Left Hand, I do all the life energy stuff between the two of us. I'm not so great at the healing part of it myself, but we manage."

"Don't let him trick you into handing out compliments, his ego is big enough already."

Anakin blinks. Well that's a new one. He has a fair amount of training keeping a straight face and an open mind, at least.

"Nice to meet you, Left Hand. I'm Anakin Solo." He looks up at D. "And you are?"

[distant_one]

"I'd offer to shake your hand, but, well, I am a hand." Left Hand said, chuckling at his own joke.

"I'm D." At the very least even if it's a new one it's not a very common one, at least not where D's from. They'd only met one other creature like Left Hand, and it wasn't really all that like it at all.

"It'll be interesting to see how the abilities of people here differ from what's possible in my dimension."

"Nice to meet you, D." Look at him, remembering his manners! His mother would be proud.

"I assume your powers are a little like mine, then? Just from a different source?"

They seemed to know exactly the sort of questions to ask, after all.

[distant_one]

D merely nods in acknowledgement of Anakin's manners. "Yours seem to operate well enough at distance if you're using them to convince the bugs to stay away."

The face on the hand hums thoughtfully. "So we've got the mental interaction part and the healing part in common. I don't think even the source of it is all that different. The fundamental energy of the universe that's in everything and makes living things living. They might just flow differently because our realities are different."

Anakin nods. He's not overly surprised that another person has similar abilities, even universes and galaxies away. Though other universes and realities are still a new experience for him.

"It makes sense. Even where I'm from, there are others besides Jedi who interact with the Force differently. Like the Nightsisters of Dathomir and their 'magick'."
