[ wanda smiles a little toothily and shakes her head as if that's enough to dissuade any tears. it's not. for once, her tears are not sad.

she looks up at him and smiles. ] That is the first time anyone has ever said that to me.

[rocinantes]

( god, amos almost apologizes for the fact that he was the first one to tell her that. what a terrible first person for anything that was. )

Sorry I don't have like...flowers or anything. I don't really do the Mother's Day thing.

( thankfully she seems content with the words. )

[explosion]

[ wanda furrows her brows together and peers up at him like he's suggested he slime her as a gift. ]

I don't want flowers. [ and she says it to make him feel better about the entire ordeal. she can sense his anxiety ebb off him gently. lifting her brows, she tilts her head up and informs him, ] Saying it gruffly is exactly what I wanted.

[rocinantes]

Oh yeah, I'm sure the first thing you woke up wishing for this morning was for someone like me to try and wish you a Happy Mother's Day.

( he sounds amused though. not serious at all. )

[explosion]

I did.

[ she nods and regards him seriously. crossing her arms against her chest, she thinks she's very much selling it. (with her arms tucked against her, she wipes at the bottom of her eye.) ]

Do you not believe me?

[rocinantes]

I don't because when I said it, you were genuinely surprised.

( and for someone who knew when he was approaching, that's not easy to do. )

You can't make me believe it this time.

[explosion]

I wanted you to think that.

[ she presses her lips together as if that's completely plausible. amos should be going along with her lie! the fact that he isn't is absolutely atrocious. ]

It's not fun being unsurprised all the time. Even telepaths need to pretend to be surprised from time to time.

[rocinantes]

Uh huh.

( he does not and will not believe her. )

Sure fine, you wanted it and you knew it was coming. I believe you.

[explosion]

[ she beams happily at that. see? no more tears. no more happy-sadness. wanda beams brightly like she wasn't sad at all. tilting her chin upward, she regards him smugly. ]

[ clasping her hands in front of her, she twists her fingers. ]

You can come in if you want... but you must maintain your belief.

[rocinantes]

I don't wanna interrupt anything. You were waiting for the mail?

( not that the mail would bring her anything exciting but here, it also could bring something like that. )

I don't have to stay or anything.

[explosion]

Pfft, no. [ she shakes her head. ] No one sends me mail.

[ she had wanted to tease him about the fact that he'd spontaneously appeared on her doorstep. a phone call could've sufficed, but instead, he was here. that meant something in the book of amos.

opening her door wide, she looks at him expectantly. ] Unless you have somewhere else to be?

[rocinantes]

Yeah, no. No, I don't have anywhere to be.

( you know how many friends he has, wanda? you and one other person.

once she opens the door, he moves to step inside. )

I'm sure someone sends you some mail.

[explosion]

[ she shakes her head. ] I get none. Not even junk.

[ and that's kind of sad, really. wanda likes getting mail. she wishes she had tasked westview's postman with delivering mail many times during the day.

with a flick of her wrist, she closes the door. she leads him down the hallway. ]

It's a good thing that you're here. My car has been making a sound.

[ and while wanda could've fixed it, she wanted him to do it. ]

[rocinantes]

What kind of sound?

( and his face says 'why didn't you fix it with your magic?' because he knows she can. )

Is it still running?

[explosion]

No.

[ and if it was running just a few moments ago before she very sneakily stopped it from doing so, well... he won't be able to tell.

wanda shakes her head and furrows her brows as she appears a touch concerned. ]

It is making a dying sound. It's very sad.

[rocinantes]

And how did that happen? What'd you do to it?

( obviously it had been something she'd done while driving. it's the only explanation. )

[explosion]

[ wanda turns around and gasps, laughing as she smacks her hand to her chest. she appears very affronted... and very guilty. ]

What I did to it? I did nothing!

[ she sure did something. ]

How could you say such a thing?

[rocinantes]

Because no one else is driving the vehicle.

( and she looks incredibly guilty in the way that she's trying not to look guilty at all. )

So, either it's shoddy craftsmanship or something happened.

[explosion]

Are you implying I am a bad driver?

[ he'd be right. despite being decent at driving, wanda much prefers to teleport or fly… not that amos needs to know that.

she shakes her head and tuts. ]

If the craftsmanship is shoddy, it is because of the mechanic.

[rocinantes]

I didn't put the car together. I just keep it running.

( and it was running fine before this whole thing. )

Where's the car?

[explosion]

In the garage.

[ she narrows her eyes slightly as she observes him for a moment. how can she remove the blame from herself? even though she is the culprit... ]

Did you really want to see it?

[rocinantes]

Do you want me to try and fix it?

( if she wants him to try and get it running then yeah, he'd have to see it. but if not...

he shrugs. )

I don't have to see it if you wanna start walking around town.
