[ she nods, pressing her lips together. while wanda's still processing it all—she'd felt like she had lived a full life here with her boys, a life that isn't grounded in reality at all—she can see the flip side of it. she wants to.

she smiles small. ] It was nice, though. I got to be with them again. [ she widens her smile before looking up at him. ] That sounds silly, doesn't it?

[rocinantes]

I'll be honest and admit I don't really know what that type of connection is about but...it's not silly.

( he shrugs. she'd loved them. nothing wrong with that. )

Maybe it just means you'll see them again soon.

[explosion]

I hope so.

[ everything keeps implying that she will. she had heard them in her cabin. she has had them come to her here countless times. it's why wanda doesn't want to leave. what if she leaves or they're transported somewhere else and they can no longer find her? ]

They are... somewhere else back home. I can't find them. But they must be close if they are here.

[rocinantes]

I'll wish that for you.

( there's not much else he can do, unfortunately. he can't help her find the kids and he can't guarantee that she'd find them in the future.

but he can hope that things turn out well. )

[explosion]

[ she smiles and chuckles low. holding her cup in one hand and her wrist in the other, she smiles at him and shakes her head. the tough and aggressive amos burton is long gone... and something she always thought was a wall to keep him somewhat safe. ]

[ wanda's aware that means a lot coming from him. ]

And maybe then you can meet them. I think Billy would be very interested in your spaceship stories.

[rocinantes]

Yeah, maybe.

( he doesn't know if he's really the type to be good with kids but if she wants him to meet them, he would. he shrugs. )

Not a lot of people want to bring their kids around me.

[explosion]

Is it your cuddly nature?

[ she laughs softly. it's so much better to talk about them as if there is a chance they will return. it means all hope isn't lost, which is a nice change of pace. wanda's used to anything related to the maximoffs being, well... not necessarily hopeful. ]

I imagine many people would find that intimidating.

[rocinantes]

Cuddly nature?

( amos eyes her and then shakes his head, laughing. )

Have you ever seen me cuddle anyone?

[explosion]

Oh, yes.

[ she smiles and nods almost enthusiastically at that. amos is far from cuddly, but she knows that he can be soft when he wants to be. he'd been so just a few moments ago, after all. ]

I will keep your secret for now. I wouldn't want everyone to think you are cuddly with them.

[ no, she wants it for herself. ]

[rocinantes]

That's because I'm not cuddly with everyone.

( amos rolls his eyes. he's not going to press this too much because she's not at her best but still. )

You can be the cuddly one.

[explosion]

[ she shakes her head. she doesn't have the build of a bear like he does. she's a stick—she has the body of a witch, not someone who is secretly soft and gooey on the inside. ]

Were you cuddly with your friends?

[ with holden and his nice ass. wanda imagines if amos says no, he means yes. if he considers her his friend, then he must be like this with them, too. ]

[rocinantes]

No.

( of course he wasn't. what the heck kind of question was that, wanda?

he shakes his head. )

I didn't cuddle and I especially didn't cuddle them.

[explosion]

I don't mean literally!

[ she laughs. god, sometimes he takes things so literally. it's amusing how up in arms he gets. ]

I mean... nice. Friendly. [ she doesn't want to say "soft". ] Not as prickly.

[rocinantes]

We got along.

( sometimes. and sometimes he threatened to kill them if he needed to. )

We had to if we wanted to keep the ship going.

[explosion]

Do you miss them?

[ she observes him with a neutral, gentle expression.

wanda doesn't think it's a strange question to ask. they're amos' friends. amos, even if he's surly and rough on the outside has to be a little soft and mushy on the inside. wanda doesn't need telepathy to know they mean something important to him. ]

[rocinantes]

Sometimes.

( he does. some more than others, if he's honest. he misses alex, he misses holden, but he misses naomi most of all.

he takes a breath and then shrugs. )

Try to tell myself they'll all be there whenever this is over.

[explosion]

[ wanda frowns and tilts her head slightly to the side. amos' pessimism is, well... amos' pessimism. he reminds her a lot of natasha at times and pietro at others. ]

What makes you think they won't be?

[rocinantes]

That's not what I mean. I just try and tell myself that things aren't gonna be different when I get out of here.

( he shrugs. )

That I'm not missing anything.

[explosion]

I don't think I missed out on much. [ she lifts a shoulder. ] I went home once when we were in Deerington.

[ wanda furrows her brows as she recalls how she had seemed to... pick up where she left off. but perhaps that won't be the same here. the trench is different. deerington had apparently been a very realistic dream. ]

Maybe it will be the same for you.

[rocinantes]

We'll see

( amos rubs a hand against the back of his neck and shrugs. )

It's not something that I think about a lot. It's pointless while I'm here.

[explosion]

Maybe it is.

[ maybe it isn't. she takes a sip from her glass and hopes that it isn't as pointless as he thinks it to be. she wants her kids to be with her again. perhaps she can do something about that in the trench.

keeping the glass raised to her lips, she peers down at the rim. ] Thanks for coming by and... [ how does one describe it? ] helping me.

[rocinantes]

Yeah, you know.

( amos shrugs, a little taken aback by her gratitude. he doesn't know how to handle someone being thankful for his presence. )

I'm glad I could help.

[explosion]

[ that makes them alike. wanda's not used to being comforted. she stands a little awkwardly and uses her glass of water as a way to try and combat it. ]

Did you want to sit? [ she brightens her expression, though it isn't as bright as it usually is. ] Or you can see my car. I have kept it in tip-top shape.

[ for now. ]

[rocinantes]

Have you?

( he nods because he'll believe her on that one. )

I can sit. I've got some time.

[explosion]

I have!

[ she laughs. with an easy flick of her wrist, a chair pulls out from the kitchen table. it may not be the one he was going to choose, but… she sincerely doubts amos is married to a spot at her kitchen table.

tilting her chin upward, she declares haughtily, ] I will have you know I am a very responsible car owner. [ she adds purposefully belatedly, ] Sometimes.
