( amos makes a face. he's not going to back down from a challenge and it doesn't feel like she's going to either. )
I still say you can't handle it.
no subject
Handle what?
no subject
( he glances away when he hears the crowds starting to get louder. must be getting closer to midnight. )
You can't handle me.
no subject
You're serious?
[ she keeps her hand against her mouth, greatly amused by his decoration. ]
What is there to handle of you?
no subject
You just keep acting like you could deal with someone like me on that level.
( very few people can. that's why he was unattached. )
no subject
What is 'someone like you'? Someone from space?
[ c'mon, amos. say what you mean unless you're afraid. ]
no subject
( don't make him say it. )
A difficult person like you should recognize a fellow difficult person.
no subject
A difficult person like me? I'm as simple and nice as they come!
[ she'd snort, but she's too busy pretending she's affronted. ]
But perhaps I know what you mean. [ she smirks—and yes, she thinks he's scared to say what he's eluding to. it's cute. ]
no subject
( that was boring. )
You're better than that.
no subject
wanda smiles, but this time it's not because she wants to prove to be difficult and a pain for him. that's one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to her—and it means a lot coming from someone that she regards as a good friend, even if he'd never wear a friendship bracelet (not that she'd ever offer one). ]
Did you just compliment me?
no subject
( because he'll have to take it back if he does. )
Or I'll never compliment you again.
no subject
[ she smiles now and cheekily. oh, how she's never going to let this down! amos burton likes difficult people, and he likes the fact that she's not simple. put that on her gravestone! ]
That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me.
no subject
( god, he has to think he's said something else that's decently nice to her. he makes a face. )
Make it sound like I never say anything nice to you.
no subject
[ wanda shakes her head. of course, what amos doesn't say is made up for by his actions. the number of times he's come and fixed her car even when she could've done it herself says enough.
she sighs dramatically. ] It's like you don't even like me.
no subject
( because he could do that, sure. )
And then you'd be sad.
no subject
[ wanda shakes her head. if the compliment was physical, she'd snatch it and keep it out of his reach. ]
That's rude, Amos. Do you want to be rude on the last day of the year? It doesn't bode well for you next year.
no subject
( he smirks. )
Besides, this year's not over yet. I can get some last minute stuff in before the new one.
no subject
And what kind of stuff is that?
[ she honestly should be afraid to ask. ]
no subject
( he rolls his eyes. )
I don't know if I have enough time to say it. We're about ten minutes from the new year.
no subject
[ c'mon, amos, give her three things. don't go into the new year with regrets! ]
no subject
( now he's gonna be obstinate. )
You haven't given me anything, you know.
no subject
I've given you plenty of things! I've given you friendship and a car to fix and plenty of good advice you have chosen to disregard.
[ she's a great friend. a giving one. one who breaks things and then asks him to help fix them.
that's friendship. ]
no subject
( he laughs. )
You broke your car so I could fix it?
no subject
[ no!!! he's misinterpreting her! ]
I have a car that I take to you to fix when it breaks all by itself. Is that not a good sign of friendship? I trust you with it.
[ please focus on what's important here. ]
no subject
( he doubts. do you hear the doubt in his voice? )
I don't know, I think it has some assistance.
