[ so after much waffling and discussion with fakir, ahiru finally came to the conclusion that she needs to tell her friends the truth. well . . . her house mates at least. she wasn't going to go around blabbing it to everyone. she wasn't quite ready for that.

but if there's one thing this place has taught her, it's not safe to keep her secret all to herself. ahiru needed people in her corner and she believed her house-mates would protect her.

and hopefully . . . not too much will change. she hopes. ]

Uhm, I'm glad you're all here. I have something important to tell you guys. I've been keeping a secret.

Not like a big secret or a dark secret, but more like a secret about me. A personal, kind of weird, don't freak out sort of secret.

[It's been an...interesting few days. Between Fern and Varian, it had been some stuff, and then they'd gotten two new additions to the house! The Fathiers have definitely been running Luz ragged, and it's reflected in the girl now, who seems to have had her clothing snacked on, her hair was a mess and also had pieces of grass sticking out of it].

I...think I can handle just about anything, now that I've been kicked in the stomach by a Fathier.

[ oh boy. ]

I don't know . . . You look really tired, Luz . . .

No, I'm fine. Just...hoping the kick won't cause internal bleeding.

[danserai]

None of that sounds fine.

[imaglyphwitch]

[Luz waved her hand, giving Ahiru a smile].

Just some trouble with the Fathiers! I'll get them under control eventually, they're just not ready to trust yet, I bet!

So! What did you have to talk to us about?

[droptheious]

[Varian is finally showing some real recovery from his corruption- his hands are back to normal and his skin only has the slightest tinge of grey left to it. He's still pretty goddamn tired, but the house having the correct (alive) occupants in it has done wonders in making him feel less awful.

Of course, he himself has some pretty nasty secrets- ones he knows he's eventually going to have to open up about to the younger members of the household. So he's going to take this with minimal judgement on his side.]

Okay, well, given the month most of us have had, I doubt there's much that can shake us at this point. What's up?

[danserai]

S-So. I'm not really . . . a girl.

[ a pause. ]

I mean, I am a girl, but I'm not a human girl like a normal human girl though I am when I'm like this so that's not quite true . . .

[droptheious]

Oh.

[He's just gonna let that oh sink in for a minute there. ]

I mean...um, okay? That you're...not human? [He juts a thumb to indicate the rest of the household.] Like. Fern and Luca are here so it's really not a big deal, like- humanity isn't a pre-requisite for you living here or being cared about or-

[He frowns, hrmm. She seems pretty nervous about it.]

Unless someone has been giving you problems about it? Like, do I need to go gently threaten someone with a bomb or something? Because I can do that.

[Does it occur to him to even ask her what she is? Nope. Doesn't matter, what matters is that she's not being mistreated for it!]

[danserai]

[ she shakes her head. ]

No one is giving me problems, it's just safer for me if you all know . . . because it's not like Fern and Luca. I can't . . . do the things you all do.

Because I'm not a girl. I'm a duck. The magic made me look like this.

That's good, that no one is giving you problems.

[Because he is not going to tolerate that for a split second. You come to Disaster House, you are protected by Disaster House. That's just how it goes.

It...takes him a few moments to digest that information. Luckily by now Varian's seen and heard a lot, not much phases him anymore.]

You're... a duck. So magic put you into a human body? [WAIT. WAIT. He remembers that weirdo boy from her memory being here.] Suddenly that guy's network post about the duck makes a lot more sense.

[schoolingfish]

Oh? What is it? I mean, considering my secret...well, former secret lately, is that I'm a fish person, I doubt yours is going to be any bigger than mine.

[But who knows? Maybe it will be.]

Well. I guess our secrets are kind of . . . similar.

[schoolingfish]

Really?

[Well, that's exciting. How similar?]

Are you a fish person, too?

[He'd never seen her get wet, after all.]

Kind of the exact opposite . . . and not even a person.

I'm a duck.

[schoolingfish]

Oh! I didn't know ducks could look human! ...but it is kind of nice to know someone else who changes like me, even if we're not exactly the same. Can you control the change, or is it like me?

( reaper )

[ even though reaper left the house, ahiru still considers him one of the members. after all, he welcomed her and was willing to make a studio for her. he takes time for her and she appreciates that.

and she knows . . . she believes he would help her. look out for her. it's strange to think of an adult that way, but maybe that's . . . what they're there for. ]

Uhmm, do you have a minute?

[Reaper had been looking out for the kids, especially a little more since the incident where Fern died and Varian went full beast-mode. He still kept to himself and usually well out of the way, but he was quietly protecting the house from a distance.

He looked at Ahiru as her question, giving her a quiet appraising look behind his mask.]

I suppose. Are you going to wow me with a ballet trick?

[danserai]

I'm pretty sure I don't know any ballet tricks like that . . .

[ unless the trick was getting it right instead of toppling over. ]

There's something I need to tell you. Just as a sort of precaution, you know? Because this place is weird and I kind of got chased around last month and it was a bit dangerous, ehehe . . .

Considering I've only seen one ballet, I'm certain you could find something to impress with.

[However, he was curious what kind of secret that was so important to tell. She had specifically come to find him after all.]

[ she fidgets for a moment. ]

[Fern still feels like he's recovering from the whole death thing, but it's a definite improvement from being dead. Whatever Ahiru wants to throw at them can't be that bad compared to everything else that's happened recently, so all in all he's pretty chill.]

It doesn't sound too bad, huh? What is it?

[danserai]

Well, it's uhm . . . I'm not really . . . a girl.

[laminae]

Oh. [Fern isn't phased by this at all, he grew up with a whole gamut of different kinds of people, but it's obvious this is pretty important to Ahiru.]

That's cool. You gotta be you, whoever that is, right?

[danserai]

Being a duck isn't exactly who I want to be.

I'm only telling you guys because I can't look after myself when I'm a duck. I can't talk to anyone.

Oh. [He frowns a little.]

Okay, then we can do that. [He really doesn't doubt for a second that the whole house will support her, no matter what she is.] That's no problem.
