[ she snorts and covers her mouth with her hand to try to stop herself from laughing. it's rude to laugh. while wanda may not be much of a regular person, she can be a lady from time to time.

she clears her throat and tries to bite back her smile as she removes her hand. ]

Of course. [ she nods, although it's very clear from her amused tone and expression that she's poking fun at him. ] I might implode.

[rocinantes]

It's happened before.

( he's just going to play along because he can. )

[explosion]

Hm.

[ she smiles and shakes her head. she's close to lifting her hand to wiggle her finger at him, but wanda refrains as she instead opts to look at him smugly. ]

But you're mistaken. No man or woman is like me.

[ she is, very safely, one of a kind. ]

[rocinantes]

That might be true.

( he's seen what she can do so he's pretty sure that there is no one out there like her.

he can admit that. )

But you still couldn't handle it.

[explosion]

[ she scoffs and rolls her eyes. ]

I can handle it.

[ wanda looks at him with a rather pointedly amused look. she can handle some shoulders! she took down thanos, for fuck's sake!

when a thought comes to her, she crosses her arms against her chest and gives him a once-over. ] I don't think you could. You seem a little delicate.

[rocinantes]

Ha.

( that's hilarious. she's hilarious. amos laughs. )

I would say you can try and find out but yeah, right.

[explosion]

What? [ wanda laughs as she clasps her hands in front of her. ]

Are you scared? [ she chuckles. ] That makes a lot of sense, actually.

[rocinantes]

Oh yeah, you got me. Totally scared of you.

( amos scoffs and rolls his eyes. )

Terrified.

[explosion]

[ she lifts her brows, attempting to appear unamused despite being greatly amused by him. wanda crosses her arms against her chest and resets her weight on her feet. ]

Okay. Then you'll do it.

[rocinantes]

Do what?

( what had he agreed to? )

I didn't say I'd do anything.

[explosion]

[ she shakes her head, humming in disagreement. ]

If you're not scared, then you'll do it. In the new year, you'll walk naked in my house.

[ she smiles at him. although she expects him to totally back out as it's a ridiculous bet, there's never enough time or opportunity in the trench to kid around like this uninterrupted.

and so she wants to make the most of it, this feeling of being normal. ]

[rocinantes]

Fine.

( he's not going to back down especially because he knows that she thinks he will. )

I will.

[explosion]

[ oh, she definitely thinks he will. amos is all bark and very little bite.

she smiles, pleased. ]

I will make sure my camera is fully charged.

[ is wanda going to make it absolutely difficult for him? of course. new year, new wanda. ]

[rocinantes]

Uh huh.

( amos makes a face. he's not going to back down from a challenge and it doesn't feel like she's going to either. )

I still say you can't handle it.

[explosion]

[ wanda smiles, although she's quick to try and press her lips into a non-curved line. she cocks her brow and peers at him in innocent confusion. ]

Handle what?

[rocinantes]

Me.

( he glances away when he hears the crowds starting to get louder. must be getting closer to midnight. )

You can't handle me.

[explosion]

[ she can't help but laugh, and immediately covers her hand over her mouth to stop herself from laughing even harder. oh, he's serious? ]

You're serious?

[ she keeps her hand against her mouth, greatly amused by his decoration. ]

What is there to handle of you?

[rocinantes]

( amos rolls his eyes. )

You just keep acting like you could deal with someone like me on that level.

( very few people can. that's why he was unattached. )

[explosion]

[ wanda shrugs, not quite feigning her confusion. ]

What is 'someone like you'? Someone from space?

[ c'mon, amos. say what you mean unless you're afraid. ]

[rocinantes]

You know what I mean.

( don't make him say it. )

A difficult person like you should recognize a fellow difficult person.

[explosion]

[ she gasps and presses her hand to her heart to wordlessly declare her innocence. ]

A difficult person like me? I'm as simple and nice as they come!

[ she'd snort, but she's too busy pretending she's affronted. ]

But perhaps I know what you mean. [ she smirks—and yes, she thinks he's scared to say what he's eluding to. it's cute. ]

[rocinantes]

You know you're difficult. I wouldn't hang around someone who was easy and shit.

( that was boring. )

You're better than that.

[explosion]

[ oh.

wanda smiles, but this time it's not because she wants to prove to be difficult and a pain for him. that's one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to her—and it means a lot coming from someone that she regards as a good friend, even if he'd never wear a friendship bracelet (not that she'd ever offer one). ]

Did you just compliment me?

[rocinantes]

Don't let it go to your head.

( because he'll have to take it back if he does. )

Or I'll never compliment you again.

[explosion]

But you did.

[ she smiles now and cheekily. oh, how she's never going to let this down! amos burton likes difficult people, and he likes the fact that she's not simple. put that on her gravestone! ]
