[ wanda smiles and shakes her head. ] No. I'm just giving you reasons why you are here.

[ she gestures vaguely with her hand and shrugs as she nonchalantly delivers, ] The hole in the wall was closed.

[ see? she's saving your hide from having to admit you willingly chose to be here. ]

[rocinantes]

Or maybe I just wanted a change of pace.

( so, sure, the hole in the wall was closed. )

Why are you here?

[explosion]

I've never been to a New Years Eve party before.

[ wanda glances away and shrugs like that's very, very normal. she feels a little self-conscious at that, though. she'd been a part of the avengers, and yet, she still hasn't experience so many normal things. ]

[rocinantes]

Never?

( huh. that surprises him a little bit. )

Gonna get drunk and kiss someone at midnight to get the full experience?

[explosion]

[ wanda shrugs, smiling slightly. ] Maybe.

[ she feels shy about that. it's what's in all of the movies. there's the big new year's eve kiss, and how you spend the last moments of the current year will determine how your next year will go. of course, wanda doesn't believe in the latter, but it's the magic of new year's that she wants to experience. ]

It's what you do on New Year's, isn't it?

[rocinantes]

Yeah.

( and he only knows that from being here awhile. )

You didn't do that last year? You were here then right?

[explosion]

[ she presses her lips together and shakes her head. ] I didn't feel like going out and celebrating much.

[ and it had nothing to do with vision or pietro, but everything to do with her wanting a quiet christmas. it'd been on her bucket list for a long time now. while wanda wants to experience everything she's seen in the movies and shows, she also wants to live her life the way she wants to. no one's making decisions to keep her locked in a room. ]

I wanted something quiet. [ she smiles cheekily. ] And I wanted to wear track pants.

[rocinantes]

And did you?

( have a quiet christmas. but he does have a question because what the hell? )

The fuck are track pants?

[explosion]

The sweats.

[ she gestures to her legs, which are not sheathed in pants. wanda could turn the bottom of her dress into them, but she refrains from now. she keeps wiggling her fingers toward her legs as if that's going to jog his memory. ]

The comfortable pants you wear. I wear them all around the house in winter.

[rocinantes]

Surprised you just didn't go naked. Your own house and all.

( he smirks. )

I would have.

[explosion]

[ wanda looks at him innocently. ]

You'd walk around naked in my house?

[ when you leave it wide open like that, well… no one can say wanda maximoff doesn't take an opportunity when it presents itself. ]

[rocinantes]

I'd walk around naked in my house.

( he sees what you did there. )

You couldn't handle me naked.

[explosion]

[ she snorts and covers her mouth with her hand to try to stop herself from laughing. it's rude to laugh. while wanda may not be much of a regular person, she can be a lady from time to time.

she clears her throat and tries to bite back her smile as she removes her hand. ]

Of course. [ she nods, although it's very clear from her amused tone and expression that she's poking fun at him. ] I might implode.

[rocinantes]

It's happened before.

( he's just going to play along because he can. )

Many a woman and man before you.

[explosion]

Hm.

[ she smiles and shakes her head. she's close to lifting her hand to wiggle her finger at him, but wanda refrains as she instead opts to look at him smugly. ]

But you're mistaken. No man or woman is like me.

[ she is, very safely, one of a kind. ]

[rocinantes]

That might be true.

( he's seen what she can do so he's pretty sure that there is no one out there like her.

he can admit that. )

But you still couldn't handle it.

[explosion]

[ she scoffs and rolls her eyes. ]

I can handle it.

[ wanda looks at him with a rather pointedly amused look. she can handle some shoulders! she took down thanos, for fuck's sake!

when a thought comes to her, she crosses her arms against her chest and gives him a once-over. ] I don't think you could. You seem a little delicate.

[rocinantes]

Ha.

( that's hilarious. she's hilarious. amos laughs. )

I would say you can try and find out but yeah, right.

[explosion]

What? [ wanda laughs as she clasps her hands in front of her. ]

Are you scared? [ she chuckles. ] That makes a lot of sense, actually.

[rocinantes]

Oh yeah, you got me. Totally scared of you.

( amos scoffs and rolls his eyes. )

Terrified.

[explosion]

[ she lifts her brows, attempting to appear unamused despite being greatly amused by him. wanda crosses her arms against her chest and resets her weight on her feet. ]

Okay. Then you'll do it.

[rocinantes]

Do what?

( what had he agreed to? )

I didn't say I'd do anything.

[explosion]

[ she shakes her head, humming in disagreement. ]

If you're not scared, then you'll do it. In the new year, you'll walk naked in my house.

[ she smiles at him. although she expects him to totally back out as it's a ridiculous bet, there's never enough time or opportunity in the trench to kid around like this uninterrupted.

and so she wants to make the most of it, this feeling of being normal. ]

[rocinantes]

Fine.

( he's not going to back down especially because he knows that she thinks he will. )

I will.

[explosion]

[ oh, she definitely thinks he will. amos is all bark and very little bite.

she smiles, pleased. ]

I will make sure my camera is fully charged.

[ is wanda going to make it absolutely difficult for him? of course. new year, new wanda. ]
